Please Add Average for "Spending By Month" Report

You can see how much you spend on a category for each month individually, but it would be helpful to see an average as well.  Right now, you need to go to "Spending By Envelope", select the category and time period, and divide the total amount of spending by the number of months you've selected.

Great idea!  That would be really useful. :-)  I've added a vote for that too.

Hi Christina,

Thanks for the suggestion! Can you tell me why the average is a helpful number to see? Is it just to see whether or not you're staying on budget over a certain period of time?

For now, I've added both your votes to our request tracker for future consideration.

Thanks!

It's helpful to see how my spending has changed since I implemented something (ex. Ever since I started shopping at Aldi vs Cub, I've spend x amount less on groceries). It's helpful for planning purposes (Ex. If I want to start going to yoga classes, I'll need to cut down on going out to eat by x amount).

Yes.  It's really good for making adjustments to one's envelope fill amounts.  One could then easily see how much was actually spent per month, on average, for that particular envelope. :-)

I would like to add my vote to this. I am working through my budgets to ensure as best I can that I have the right amount budgeted. Trouble is whilst Goodbudget will tell me how much I have spent over a given group of months it does not average that out to an average budget over the same period, so I have to do it long hand. I attach a report that is in a competitor budgeting app and it is so useful. To be honest it rather surprises me that such a report is not there already.
