I am trying to move money from checking account to the saving envelope. Here is the problem: if I do it as a negative transaction it minus from the checking account and it shows in red in the saving envelope. If I put it is a regular transaction - it is nice and green in saving account but it adds funds to the checking account. Is there any way to have it green in the saving envelope and minus it from the checking account?

Hi Katerina

Are you using the "Transfer" tab? If you're transferring from one account to the other, you shouldn't go negative, unless the transfer reduces the balance of your checking account below $0.00

Yes, I am using the transfer. But it is not the transfer between checking and saving accounts. I transfer from checking account to saving envelope - for now I have free version and you can have only one account

Hi Kathyrussia,

That's a good question! To clarify, in Goodbudget, Envelopes are not tied to Accounts. So, you can only make transfers from Account to Account, and/or from Envelope to Envelope.

Because you already have your Checking Account balance in Goodbudget, that means the money you want to put into that Savings Envelope is already represented somewhere in your Envelopes -- like in Unallocated, or other ones.

So, to get the appropriate amount into your Savings Envelope, try making one or more Envelope Transfers to your Savings Envelope until it reaches your desired balance.

Hope that helps!
