Scam or real?

I got an email saying my subscription payment did not process and I needed to update my payment info. I clicked the link and did so, but immediately upon updating my info, I got another email saying my subscription was cancelled. But I can still log in and use it. So....... was this a real email coming from goodbudget, requiring a real payment method update, or was this a scam coming under the guise of goodbudget?

Hi there,

 When you update your billing information, we cancel your old subscription with the old billing information that is no longer valid, so you may get a cancelled subscription email. I replied to the email that you wrote us directly with some additional information about your subscription.
