Scheduled Transaction Trigger Time

Hi folks, loving Goodbudget, recommending it to all my family and friends, still in the early days and going well so far, but wondered when my scheduled transactions will actually trigger. I had a bunch planned for today (and the 1st day of every month) but they didnt seem to trigger. They were sitting in my list of transactions with today's date as the next date, but they hadnt completed by 8.30am. I panicked and triggered them manually, some more than once :-) (managed to recover that) but perhaps they dont trigger until midday?

Also as a side question, I find that I have everything set up to work via envelope transfers - I dont actually ever do an envelope fill, in effect everything is a transfer from my Unallocated into one of my envelopes. Am I doing something wrong (thought it seems to work for me) or is it bad practice?

Thoughts welcome.

Hi Graham,

Glad to hear that you're loving Goodbudget! When you Schedule a transaction to automatically post, it should post within 10 minutes on the day of. Can you email support@goodbudget.com so that we can see what's going on?

As for your Envelopes--we recommend adding your income to Unallocated and fill your Envelopes using money from Unallocated because you can fill all of your Envelopes at once.

Hi Graham,

We've responded to your email but to reiterate, Scheduled Transactions start posting at midnight Pacific Time so if you're in a different time zone, it might happen later.

I'm glad that you were able to create one Envelope Fill for all of your Envelopes--hope this helps you keep track of how much you fill your Envelopes each budgeting period.

This is an old thread but this issue caught me out in the UK this morning. None of my scheduled transactions for the 1st Feb had been posted at 1000hrs uk time. I had to post them manually in order to do my bank reconciliation, which is quite big this time of the month.

Am I missing something or is there no way around this? Knowing it will happen means I will be prepared for it in future but it would be nice to get the auto-posting done in a timely manner in the UK. It would also be good to be able to manually "post now" with the posting date being the scheduled date if the post is pushed through early.

Hi Colin,

Scheduled transactions currently post at midnight PST (UTC-8), which means that your transactions will post later. We hope to have timezone support in the future, but aren't working on that right now. As a workaround, you can schedule your transactions to post the day before.
