Search is not working with split transactions

Hi,

in the transaction menu, when I'm looking for a specific text being in several envelope names, the search function does not show the transactions that are inside split transactions. For instance, I have a 10$ expense for food and another one of 13$, still for food, but included in a 20$ expense for all my groceries. If I'm looking for "food" in the global transacton menu, I won't see the 13$ expense, even if it is in the "food" enveloppe expenses. this issue occurs both on the web and in the android app (and I guess in the iPhone one)

Hi Lionel,

I think I see what you're saying, but I'll double check. It sounds like you're saying when you search the history of a single Envelope, you don't see the full amount of the split transaction. Is that right? To clarify, when you drill down into a single Envelope, all splits will look like a regular expense transactions and only show the amount that was split into the particular Envelope you're looking at. Only on the main Transactions tab will splits appear as a split where you'll see the full transaction amount. For example, on the Transactions tab on mobile, a split for 50 from 'Walmart' will say '[Multiple], meaning that a transaction was put into a few different places. If you drill down in to your Groceries Envelope, only the amount of 20 from that split will appear in the Groceries Envelope.

Hope that makes sense

Hi Karisa,

Your way is working, because you're looking into only 1 envelope with its full name (it is also working on my side). I attached screenshots of my issue. I actually put a "- V" suffix to several envelopes because I set up automatic transfers for these to my savings account every month. In the global transaction menu, if I'm looking for "- V" to get all the expenses i need to transfer back to my main account, transactions that are part of a split transaction will not appear.

Hi Lionel,

I'm glad you clarified! I understand the issue and have replicated on my side. I think what's happening is that the Search feature isn't able to find the split because it's searching the word 'Multiple', unlike a non-split that is going to a single Envelope named '-V'. That's just my guess. For now, I've added this to our bug tracker for future fixing.

Thanks again

I guess the search function is only looking into the transaction "first level"  and is not looking into the lower level. To me this should not be hard to fix (when a split is found, look into the lower level). Thanks !
