Split screen not supported

Hi, I am one of the "fortunate" tablet owners who got an update to Android 7. There is one feature that is perfect for Goodbudget in combination with my banking app and that is split screen. The split screen mode allows me to see my transactions on top, and (theoretically) add them to Goodbudget in the bottom. However, Goodbudget does not allow split screen (yet). My current solution is cumbersome as I have to use my phone to see the transactions, and copy them on my tablet. If I would use both on my tablet without split screen, the security feature of my banking app would force me to log in every time I switch apps, which is unusable.

So, is there any prospect on supporting split screen in the Android app?

Thanks,
- Jorgen

Hi Jorgen,

That's a good question! I can say we are not working on a split-screen feature at the moment. For now, I've added your vote to our request features tracker for future consideration.

Thanks!

Although I appreciate a reply, getting two 'canned responses' in a row about features that seem to be useful and trivial to add, does not really give me any confidence they will be ever prioritized or see the light of day. I of course hope they will. Is there anything in particular you do work on for the android app?

Hi Jorgen,

I'm sorry you feel like the responses are canned! Trying to be quick and to the point often leaves out room for a lot variation.

Right now, we're working on two separate releases. One for Android and one for iPhone. Specifically for Android, we working on implementing a scheduled transaction feature. That will be out soon, so stay tuned.

Feel free to check out our Roadmap for updates on what we're working on.

Thanks!

Sorry if I sounded too negative, and thank you for elaborating. Don't get me wrong Goodbudget is the best budgeting system there is, and besides the minor inconveniences here and there, I am a happy user!

I'm glad to hear you're enjoying the app, for the most part! :D

I will definitely let you know if we plan to implement this feature.

Thanks!

I know that this conversation was two years ago, but is this feature still being considered? My bank app supports this and it would be great if goodbudget would too so I can have these sided by side. This would really help out when the budget isn't matching the banks cash flow.

Hi Thomas,

Thanks for checking in. We are not working on a feature like this at this time. We'll update the thread if there's any movement.

Thanks!

GB is a great app but the one thing I have grown to accept is the fact that they do not necessarily keep abreast of tech advances or indeed their own bugs. This approach is alien to me really and I accept it because I like the app so much. They are I understand a very small team which suggests that as a business model GB only provides a modest income that cannot support more staff.
