system service sync

Hi EEBA Guys, my wife and me we are testing EEBA and the android app. Could you please add a sync system service, so that EEBA shows up in the system sync, like here:
System Settings > Accounts & Synchronising. Here all kinds off accounts that are being synced show up, such as Google, Facebook, Twitter, etc. It would be cool if EEBA would show up there as well. This way, it syncs, as soon as there is an internet connection.
Maybe EEBA has already a system service for syncing, but I do not know. That is why I am asking here.

Hi Markus,

Thanks for getting in touch with us and welcome to EEBA! EEBA currently automatically syncs each time you open the App on your Androids if you have an internet connection, 3G or 4G. You and your wife just have to log into the EEBA with the same Household Username in order sync the App on your phones. If you’ve had the App open and you want to manually sync, you can just go to More > Sync now.

We currently don’t have a system sync feature where EEBA automatically syncs in the background when you have an internet connection, but I hope that the app sync works for you.

Happy budgeting,

Definitely need an option to sync in background. My wife and I use android tablets with WiFi only, not phones. Example: if my wife works with EEBA app offline and forgets to open app window when WiFi is reached, I see incorrect envelope balances the next time I use EEBA on my tablet, so I transfer between envelopes. Then the next time she uses EEBA with WiFi, her previous envelope changes sync and everything is out of whack.

@D & C Lewis,

I can see why background syncing would be helpful for you and your wife. I've added your voice to our features tracker. Thanks for writing in!

Ping. I hope more people "like" this feature request, because it's the biggest problem my wife and I have with goodbudget.

We don't have a data plan on our phones, so when we're out grocery shopping, it doesn't automatically sync. We only open the app at home (in wifi) when we're filling envelopes. But, if my wife enters transactions at the store, and then I go to the store the next day, I'm not going to have the new transactions unless she remembers to manually open the app when she gets home to babysit the app and make sure it syncs.

Please, we don't want to babysit goodbudget to make sure that the latest transactions show up on each other's phones. Goodbudget is the best way we've found to coordinate our budgeting, but the lack of autosync is really painful.

If there were any alternatives to goodbudget that worked as smoothly as goodbudget, we'd consider switching. But goodbudget is the best! (except for missing autosync: If I sound repetitive, that's because manually opening the app to make it sync when we get home is already super repetitive and very annoying.)

Hi Jacob,

Thanks for the feedback! From what you've said, I can see how background sync would be useful for you. Generally, for the sake of your phone's battery life, we try to keep the app as light as possible, but we'll see what we can do. Thanks!
