Tagging/Filtering Envelopes

Is there a way to add something like tags to envelopes for later filtering? For example, I have envelopes marked House: Rent, House: Utilities, Food: Groceries, etc. but some of the envelopes are physical envelopes with cash in them and some are "digital" envelopes found only in goodbudget.

When I pull cash from the bank to fill my physical envelopes, I'd like to filter the list so that only the appropriately "tagged" envelopes come up.

Hi Dan,

That's a good question. Currently, we don't have a tagging feature for Envelopes. But, I can see how that would be helpful. I've added your thoughts to our request features tracker for future consideration.

Would you mind clarifying - you have physical envelopes that you keep in real-life, but you're not tracking the balances in Goodbudget, just the names?

If that's the case, you could try grouping the Goodbudget Envelopes that represent physical envelopes under their own group. Then, you could use the Advanced search feature on the website to just filter for the particular Envelope group.

Does this help? Thanks!

On the physical envelopes, we are tracking the balances in Goodbudget as well. It is a bit of extra work, but means that the Goodbudget reports accurately reflect all of our spending.

Hi Dan,

I see! Thanks for clarifying. I think what I mentioned in my above comment might work for you. If you did group your Envelopes with your 'Physical' Envelopes being their own group, you'd be able to filter for them on the website.

Hope this helps!
