The new interface is crisp and clear but I find it a bit bright.

Any chance we could have personal settings for dark backgrounds?

+1, at a minimum. I wonder if the new UI was tested on a focus group? I feel like it's gone in the wrong direction; it's overly simplistic and cartoonish and instead of "cute and welcoming" (which is how the old one felt) it seems cold and uninviting. I'll still use GB despite the interface, but I really dislike it.

I agree..the colors are hideous and I really can’t stand it..wish there was an option to use the old interface..will continue to use it in the meantime, but will be looking for a more palatable option..it’s a shame because I’ve been a subscriber for years.

Hi everyone,

Thank you for your feedback on the website redesign. It sounds like the new design doesn't fit your personal preferences, and that is understandable. Let us know if there are specific tasks that you are finding difficult to accomplish because of the redesign. We don't have any plans to build in personal background color settings for the webapp at the moment, but we'll continue to gather feedback on the redesign from budgeters to help us prioritize what to work on next.

Thanks,
Becky

If you could take some of the brightness off the page, that would help initially. Some developers also give the option  to 'use the older version'. That would also be helpful too. I love Goodbudget though. Been using it since 2011 and it's kept our lives on track with money.

Hi everyone,

Thanks again for sending over your feedback about the new look & feel of the website. We really value your feedback and we care about your experience using the Goodbudget website. We hope to make the website usable by as many people as possible.

While we’re not going to revert back to the old version or offer a dark mode option, we have decided to make some tweaks to the initial color palette. The revised palette still may not be what everyone is looking for, but because we heard critical feedback from a relatively small number of people, we choose to make minor tweaks instead of something more extreme.

Next time you log in to the web app, you’ll notice a muted color palette. Both the red and purple, which were the colors pointed out most often as too bright, have been swapped out with alternates that are darker and richer. The blue background color has also been altered to make it more grey, and less bright.

Thanks again for your thoughts, and happy budgeting,

Karisa
