Toggle Envelope balance with or without pending transactions

Is it possible to implement a toggle at the top of the envelope list that shows the envelope balances before OR after pending transactions for the next budget cycle?

I know a work around is to enter a pending transaction ahead of time, then edit the date field to reflect the date in the future, but that effects the account balance and I need the account balance as a way to check whether my transaction entries are up to date and accurate.

I think a more useful feature would be to view the balance after each transaction. This would make reconciling so much easier, as currently if the balance is wrong it can take a very long time to find the missing or wrong transaction.

Hi Chris, 

Thanks for posting! Currently, you can see the balance after each transaction. When you add a transaction, the current balance of both the Envelope and Account (if you're tracking Accounts) will be adjusted by the amount of the transaction. Also, on the web, both Envelopes and Accounts have running balances so you can look back at old transactions to see what your balance was back then.

It is the running balance I was after. I didn't realise it was available on the Accounts page. It would be nice to see this on the Transactions page too.

Hi Chris, 

Awesome! It sounds like that Account running balance figure is helpful for you, so I'm glad to hear that.

Right now, the Transactions list listed on the Home page on the web doesn't have a running balance, as you've seen. That's because the Transaction list there acts more like a dump for all of the transactions you make, and not all of them touch both Envelope and Accounts. Some transactions impact only your Envelopes, while others only touch your Accounts -- so, it'd be tricky to know which running balance to show on that screen.

Are you hoping to see a transaction running balance for all of your Accounts? If so, you can head to the Accounts tab and click directly on the 'Checking, Savings, Cash' text to see a running balance for all of your asset Accounts, and that will include any kind of transaction that actually affected your Account balances. You can also see a running balance figure for any Credit Card Accounts you're tracking by clicking on that text as well. 

Finally, you can also see a running balance in your individual Envelope history by clicking directly on your Envelope.
