I am in my second month using goodbudget basic.  When I refilled my envelopes, my transactions don't show in the left hand totals bars, even though they appear in the transactions list.  What can I do?

Hi Karen,

When you refill your Envelopes, the balances reset for the new month. That means that existing transactions won't appear in your Envelope bars. Instead, only when you add new transactions will your Envelope bars adjust.

Does that answer your question?

Alas, no.  I had entered some transactions for September before filling the envelopes, but I back dated the filling to Sept. 1.  The transactions that I entered before the filling seem to be showing up, but, sadly, I did enter about 15 transactions before remembering that I hadn't refilled the envelopes.  Is my only option to delete all of those and re-enter them?  Please say no!

Hi Karen,

You won't need to re-enter those transactions. Instead, I'd recommend deleting and then recreating your fill.

When you recreate it, be sure to back date it for September 1, and use the 'Set' option to reset your Envelopes to full. When you refill this way, Goodbudget will automatically deduct what you've spent so far, so your September spending will be reflected in the Envelope bars.

Hope that helps!

Well, I did that, and two envelope lines are measuring down in red lines, two are measuring up in green lines, and two have full green lines, even though I've entered transactions that should have reduced them.  I may not be smart enough to use good budget!

Hi Karen,

It sounds like you may have already spent more in some Envelopes than what you budgeted for. That would result in red Envelopes. However, it's hard to say for sure without taking a look at your Household. If you're still having trouble, feel free to email us at support@goodbudget.com with your Household username so we can take a look.

Thanks!
