Just writing to let you all know about the update on the Web. Goodbudget on the Web now has a new look & feel. You’ll see new colors and a new logo the next time you log in to the website.
Even though the colors and logo are different, Goodbudget is still the same! Everything is still in the exact same place -- all your data and all the features you love are right where you expect. For more details, check out our recent blog post.
- The Goodbudget Team
Thanks everyone, for sharing your feedback with us. We appreciate you taking the time to let us know what you think!
Brian - I’m glad you love the new interface! The mobile apps will be getting updates too, but those will not be as significant, since most of the core screens in the mobile apps are already consistent with the look you see in the web screenshot above. In fact, the web update was partly intended to bring our website’s look and feel closer to the mobile apps.
Melissa & rcnunn - It sounds like the new colors don’t fit your personal preferences, which is totally understandable. However, we don’t have plans to build in personalized skins for the webapp. Currently, we’re prioritizing: an iPhone face lift, Search Transactions on iPhone, and the Goodbudget 101 Course; for each of these, we’ve received repeated feedback that they would significantly enhance the experience of many of our users. And for our color blind users, we specifically tested for various kinds of colorblindness before publishing these updated colors.
As always, we’re keeping our ears open and use info we gather from all our users to help us decide on priorities. And you can always see what we're currently working on at goodbudget.com/roadmap
To gather some points, from my own perspective:
- Too bright indeed. The background, the colors. The bright red bars and numbers on white background aren't pleasant to look at at all
- The font feels too crammed. Is it the same as before? Part of me thinks it is, but somehow ti all feels too tight, too boxy, leading to the next point
- Design feels outdated. I understand the motivation to refresh the design and make it all more similar to the apps, but it is too boxy, and as someone noted - this together with the bright colors and also the light green and purple accents makes it look a bit childish too
- The charts look too colorful and feel harder to analyse now. Also, if you check "spending by month" (my personal favorite chart which I would love to see on the app btw), at least for me it doesn't look good with so many colors and the blue links in the envelope names below, again contrasting with the white background.
Best regards to all of the team.
