Really?

You must be paid by some companies, otherwise you have nothing to do with judging juices! Your 'top' 200-300 'juices, especially top 15, ALL plastic bottles, and ALL pasteurized, and you say that they're healthy and keep their nutrition? You are ridiculous! There is NO nutrition left after pasteurizing and plastic bottles makes them toxic and very bad for enviroment! And the one that comes in a GLASS bottle, UNPASTEURISED,ALL NUTRITION INTACT, NO ARSENIC, LED, AND ORGANIC, SANTA CRUZ ORGANIC APLLE JUICE, YOU ONLY GAVE A ..5? You are a bunch of clowns, not 'scientists'!

  • GoodGuide does not charge companies to rate their products and our ratings are definitely not paid advertising. Our nutritional ratings of juices are based on: the nutritional value of the drink, as characterized by a standard method of nutrient assessment called the “Ratio of Recommended to Restricted Nutrients” (RRR);
    indicators of whether levels of specific nutrients exceed public health guidelines;
    the presence of potentially hazardous additives such as certain food colors; and indicators of various production practices that affect the quality of a food product. Product-level Environment scores for juices are based on container material, indicating a product's material choice and waste management impacts.

    We don't agree with either of your assumptions:
    1) Depending on temperature used, pasteurization can reduce heat-sensitive vitamins and anti-oxidant activity, but it definitely does not eliminate all of the nutritional value of a juice. In our judgement, these impacts are outweighed by the elimination of the safety risk associated with microbial contamination of raw juices.     2) Glass bottles are generally not environmentally preferable to plastic or carton containers - primarily because their weight significantly increases the energy-related impacts of transport from source to market.

    Santa Cruz apple juice gets a low score (http://www.goodguide.com/products/252...) because it has more sugar than other apple juices - a level that exceeds that intake level recommended by the World Health Organization. It gets credit for being organic, but this does not outweigh its sugar content.
