Unable to Connect to www.google.com

For about a week now I have had difficulty in reaching www.google.com. The problem is intermittent, it comes and goes on it's own.

Here is the error that I get in firefox.

"Unable to connect

Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at www.google.com.

The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web."

When I attempt to visit google in crome, I get a different message telling me I'm connecting to icloud.com

"This is probably not the site you are looking for!
You attempted to reach www.google.com, but instead you actually reached a server identifying itself as *.icloud.com. This may be caused by a misconfiguration on the server or by something more serious. An attacker on your network could be trying to get you to visit a fake (and potentially harmful) version of www.google.com. You should not proceed."

A ping to www.google.com times out, this is the ip it attempts to ping 17.172.116.37

A ping to google.com goes through and returns this ip 72.14.204.103

I've done numerous virus scans with different tools each showing nothing amiss. I recently did a clean install of windows, less than a month old. The problem sometimes goes away with a restart, but not always. my access to gmail.google.com is not affected.

Any help in this matter would be appreciated.

Whenever I have this problem, I do the following:

I clear the cache in my browser.

I open a command prompt, and type:
ipconfig /flushdns

This always fixes the issue, but I am looking for a more permanent fix.
(Which is what brought me here, I found this in google.)

I am using a Cisco WRT160Nv3, which may be causing some DNS problems.
I flashed it to the most current version, but I still have this sort of issue every
now and then... on multiple computers. - Just throwing this out there in case
you use the same model.

I am having the exact same problem and I have the same WRT160Nv3 router. Gmail works flawlessly but google.com does not. I tried the ipconfig /flushdns but that doesnt work now either or atleast not instantly.

I also get:
You attempted to reach www.google.com, but instead you actually reached a server identifying itself as *.icloud.com.

If any of you have some sort of permanent solution please let me know. Thanks!
