Reverting or cloning a Runtime using Snapshots

The system takes a snapshot, or a static backup, of the Runtime environment every 24 hours. The snapshot includes software version, users, transcoding profiles, services, and other settings.

If you make an update that results in unexpected system behavior, you can revert the Runtime to a previous, stable snapshot. You can also select a snapshot from another Runtime belonging to the same Harmonic VOS account to clone on the Runtime you are using in the active session. This can be useful for configuring a new Runtime.

Important: Any changes made between the time of the selected snapshot and the current Runtime state will be lost. The Runtime will be unavailable during the revert procedure, and any running services will be stopped until the Runtime has restarted.

1. From the VOS LaunchPad or drop-down list, select Versions.

2. Click the Snapshots tab.

3. Select the coordinating Runtime and snapshot that you wish to restore or clone on the active Runtime, and then click Proceed with selection...

4. Click Revert now.
Note: The upgrade will begin immediately after clicking this button.

A progress bar displays during the revert procedure. The procedure should complete within one minute, and then the VOS log in screen will appear.
