How do I become the best HipHopDX applicant?

I'm a freshman in college, and I was just wondering what HipHopDX looks for in their employees? I don't have a declared major, and am just taking general classes. I find myself spending most of my time throughout the week listening to music, and reading Hip-Hop magazines and websites instead of doing homework. Since it's my dream to be an album reviewer for your website, I thought I should start taking classes that would help me with a career in writing and journalism or something. I feel my Hip-Hop knowledge is high, so what else do I need?

    Hey Joey,

Thanks for showing an interest in HipHopDx and Hip Hop as a culture. If you are interested in writing reviews and being involved with hip hop from a writers perspective i would definitely agree with taking some classes on journalism, writing, etc....

Make sure you are prioritizing your time correctly, even though it would be fun to read magazines, check websites and listen to music 24/7 we all cant do that. As a freshmen i am sure you have classes you HAVE to take to gain certain credits, even if you don't have a major yet. Make the time to get your homework done and make time for your hip hop passion. It's not all about checking websites and magazines, do research on different writing styles, grammar books, history of hip hop, study other writers, practice writing reviews/articles and interview local artists to improve on your craft.

Thanks for your feedback, good luck on picking a major :)
