Tagging and Descriptions

I mentioned this via twitter, but wanted to throw it out here as well. When posting new audio files, please please please either tag them or add a description (doesn't have to be lengthly) so that people looking can get an idea of its content. My collective is full of people giving the files a simple date (i.e. 1-12-11, or a number audio #1) and no tags. Not helpful at all. Perhaps the submission box should force either tags or a description before accepting the file. This is supposed to be social, right? Thanks for listening and if you have any ideas on how to make this even easier, please comment.

I agree: it's better for everyone when there's a description to accompany the audio.

I'll see if there's some way of programatically pre-filling something in the description field without putting people off adding their own words.

Right, thats the challenge. Low barrier to use and yet providing a meaningful experience for the rest of the social group. Thanks for responding.

I've just rolled out some code changes that I hope will help with pre-filling fields when huffduffing. The bookmarklet now tries the grab a description from the meta name="description" element, and tags from the meta name="keywords" element.

Not all websites are providing this metadata, but when they are, it should help to make huffduffing a bit better.
