I cannot log in via the iphone twitterific app. Initially, it was using a saved account/pwd and failing. I've since tried deleting the account, reentering the pwd, and 1:delete account, 2: exit app, 3: close app in multitasker, 4: restart app, 5: enter account settings at initial screen (a different first screen than when I usually start twitter), 6: save settings, 7: I still get the following error:
Authentication failed for (myusername)
The login and password cannot be verified. Please check the login and re-enter your password
If this problem persists, login to the Titter site to check if your account has been locked.
... and, yeah, I've already logged in and snooped around repeatedly in my Twitter account.
Given the similar login-related messages I'm seeing on http://twitter.com/Twitterrific, I suspect this is an app failure that an upgraded twitterific will solve. Anyone agree or disagree?

Please check the time / date / time zone on your device and reset them if they are off. Oauth now requires that your device be in perfect sync with the time server at twitter and if they are not, you won't be able to log in. Check that and let us know. Thanks!

My iPhone app has also bumped me out and is refusing to "authenticate" my account.

Apparently upgrading to version 3 (available via link on Iconfactory website) fixes the problem; but, the new client has a different feature set from the older.

For some strange reason Iconfactory didn't know that the old way of connecting to the API (Basic auth) was going to be shut down by Twitter and replaced by oauth (even though Twitter said they would shut it down a couple of months before the final day and made preparations so that companies could incorporate oauth into their apps through updates and make the transition smooth), so when the day came and Twitter shut it down, the app stopped working. No new release, no updates, nothing.
But in here we were told that getting the new Twitterific app would work - and it did... But why download a new app?! Why not just an update since that was the first thing we all tried before coming here?

Can't even get twitter to load at all. twitterific as I indicated above not loading the way it should. I get the free versions. Why would I want to pay and have the same issues as you are having?
and i have the latest version of both twiterrific client, so its not that , where can we ask for support on the icon factory , cos apprently nobody answer's here .

Downloading the new client from IconFactory/the App Store (i.e. not just updating it from within the client/app!) fixes the problem -- but I'm only using the free version, not the paid, so take this solution with a grain of salt.

For iOS devices, you have to delete the app(s) and reinstall. For some reason, the update to Twitteriffic for iPhone didn't appear in the Updates tab of the App Store app. When I downloaded the latest version, it installed alongside the old version. The new version doesn't let you add multiple accounts. This is now only a feature of the paid version (grrrrr).
I had similar luck with deleting and reinstalling Tweetdeck for the iPhone and all previous functionality seems to be intact.

Yes Keith, it also worked for my broken twitterific-version. I have reinstalled it and all information is saved. Tnx

If you are getting this error (as I did). you are probably using Twitterific Premium v2. Apparently the API that version used is now out of date, and many folks are having to figure it out the hard way.
Twitterific Premium has been discontinued; that's why it doesn't upgrade automatically through the App Store. You will need to delete the app and download the latest version of Twitteriffic, which merges the Free & Paid versions into a single application with in-app upgrade. Previous owners of Twitterific Premium will have to shell out another $5 to upgrade again... that's just the way it is.
IconFactory addresses the issue on their Twitteriffic iPhone FAQ page - Google "twitterific iphone faq":

yeah , in fact now for those who paid the premium, you have to delete it, and reinsall the free version apparently , but does the inapp purchase will be not charged again? to go back to premium ?

@altimitcc That's correct... the in-app purchase is a one-time deal and allows you to use the premium version on multiple devices such as iPod Touch or iPad (as long as they're bound to the same iTunes account).
From the Twitterific iPhone FAQ:
"The bright spot is that Twitterrific for iPad is now a universal app so if you purchased it in the past you automatically receive a version that works with your iPhone as well. If you don't own an iPad now but may buy one in the future, then you'll eventually be able to use it freely when you do."
