(qv) code not working in Copyright Holder section

Hello!

The (qv) code doesn't work in the Copyright Holder section of my movie "Be My Cat: A Film for Anne", although the IMDb instructions said that I can add qv-s there:

  • When listing a person who is in the database, use the (qv) notation to create a hyperlink to their IMDb detail page. (This applies only to people, not companies, as we do not currently have a similar way to link companies.):

    'Firstname Lastname' (qv)
    e.g.: 'Thomas A. Edison' (qv)

This is the link to my movie's Copyright Holder section: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3176980/business

I don't know if this is an issue for the entire IMDb site or just my movie.

Thank you very much,

Adrian Tofei

This is just a guess, but it is possible that you need to specify the name in the internal Surname, Givenname format, in spite of what the instructions say. I don't know if this is the case here, but the system insists on that format for adding Marriage Details, even though the instructions say to enter it the other way.

Thanks, David, but that's a different process. The Marriage Details section has the option "Listed on IMDb", so, when I try to add (qv) there, it says
  • Do not include the (qv) notation within the name
Please do not enter the (qv) notation within the name; check the "Listed in IMDb" box instead.
The Copyright Holder section doesn't have a "Listed on IMDb" option and doesn't give any approval or error message no matter what I write in there, whether it's first name first, last name first, with (qv) or without (qv).

I understand that the process is different, but I was talking only about the name.

The instructions state:
  • The spouse name should be submitted in the format First name Last name (i.e. Paul Newman)
  • Females should be listed by their maiden last name – unless she has an IMDb page in her married name in which case she should be listed by her married surname with a link to her IMDb page: (i.e. David Beckham's spouse would be listed as 'Victoria Beckham' (qv)) . If the maiden surname is not known, the first name can added on its own without a surname (i.e. ‘Victoria’)
  • If a person is separated or filing for divorce, they are still married so it should be listed:

‘Joe Bloggs’ (qv) (2 April 2010 – present) (separated)

‘Joe Bloggs’ (qv) (2 April 2010 – present) (filed for divorce)

However, if you enter Joe Bloggs and check the Listed in IMDb: box, the system will switch the name to Bloggs, Joe

I was thinking that maybe the instructions here were also wrong.

However, I have just reconsidered that. In all cases that I know of, if the system does not make a match on a (qv)'d name, it displays the name, but not the (qv). Since the copyright on your title shows with the (qv) intact, i expect that link processing is currently not being done on the copyright field.

Thanks, David. Well, my name is listed on IMDb, so the system should find the match as it did in all the other sections. And, as you say, even in the case of not being able to find a match, the qv should not be listed alongside the name. So, there's definitely an internal IMDb issue with recognising (qv)'s in the "Copyright Holder" section.

I see that no one from the IMDb staff offered to help. Is there another way to report the issue to them?

I am having the same issue as a songwriter and singer.  IMDB adds me as a writer but when I add that I was a performer and my name 'Penny Framstad' (qv) it shows up as just my imdb numbers.
