"Story Editor" - which section?

For a documentary (ie not a drama with a story and a script), which section should a "story editor" credit go in? I've always thought of it as a producer credit (similar to "commissioning editor") - someone who decides which reports/segments to include in a programme, as opposed to an editor or editorial department credit which is for someone who decides which shots to include, how to make them fit together, and how to make that happen.

I see that there have been other threads about "story editors" and they are supposed to be included in the writers section, but this is for dramas/soaps whcih are scripted in advance. Is the same guidance true for unscripted programmes such as documentaries?

I'm trying to submit some "story editor" credits for someone who already has a number of "story producer" credits for other episodes of the same series. I've had them declined as "cannot verify", but I wonder if it's really a "wrong section" error...

I personally always add it to the Writers section, I know Story Editors also add there own credits there.
I usually use what jobs are listed in the submission section drop down menu's as a guide to where they go if I'm ever unsure.

I'm not sure why documentary story editors wouldn't go in the writers section. Documentaries have a narrative that is shaped by someone and sometimes even have written by credits. I don't think you'll be very successful getting them into the producers section.

Hi Martin,

Per our guide below, Staff writers, story editors, story coordinators, story supervisors and story consultants should be submitted to the writers section.
