I watched a thriller movie on TV sometime between 2012-2014 about a boy (maybe 13 years old) who kills his abusive father. His neighbor, who looks like Jake Gyllenhaal but isn't because I can't find the movie, then finds them in the boy's house and takes him on the run from the law. The neighbor gets shot by police in a cabin in the woods where they were planning to hide. Somewhere in between the boy finds himself at a juvenile detention work camp, and at the end in a cave which he was told he wasn't supposed to enter. When he leaves the cave he is walking on the road and it ends on a cliff hanger of whether or not he was hit by a car and died. I have been searching for this movie for years, any help would be great!
