8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown - Christmas Special & Season 17 release dates

Hi,

Two issues in one thread, both regarding 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown.

1) Christmas Special 2018

The 2018 Christmas special (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9486118/) is currently listed as episode 9 of season 16, which is incorrect.

The Christmas specials are not part of the regular seasons, and has historically been listed without season numbering, to be listed in "Unknown Season": https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2345459/episodes?season=-1

I have submitted corrections for this twice, the second time with a full explanation, but to no prevail, so I'm raising the question here.

Either all specials should be linked with "made up" episode numbers at the end of each season, or this episode should have their season link removed to be grouped with the other specials.

On the official listing page you can clearly see that the Christmas special does not have a episode attachment: https://www.channel4.com/programmes/8-out-of-10-cats-does-countdown/episode-guide

My contribution ID for this change: 190102-110014-769000

2) Release dates for the episodes of season 17

I've submitted both episode 1 and 2, which has been accepted in full except for the release dates. Which is a shame since that prevents user ratings to be added on episodes.

I've tried submitting the release date for episode 1 separately since it went weeks without accepting, but to no prevail. And the release date is now also missing from episode 2 that I submitted more recently, so I'm raising the question here to know why they are kept being rejected while all other information is accepted.

(And since there is no input box to add comments when just adding a release date, I can't add proof of the release date that way, if that's the issue here.)

Episode #17.1: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9585988/
Episode #17.2: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9605984/

You can find proof of the release date on the official site: https://www.channel4.com/programmes/8-out-of-10-cats-does-countdown

For episode 1 it will say "First shown: 11 Jan 2019"

For episode 2, you can find it in the UK TV Guide: https://www.tvguide.co.uk/detail/3152665/145946426/8-out-of-10-cats-does-countdown

It says: "Fri 18 Jan 9:00pm-10:00pm"

Are there any reasons the release dates should not be accepted?

Are there any tips for a contributor on how to prevent these rejections in the future? I want to be able to add the episodes in full in a timely fashion if I'm going to take time to add them, and I want to be able to add my user rating as a mark that I've watched the episode.

Thanks!
/Gustav

Hi Gustav -

First, concerning Christmas specials, unless the special is a precursor to the start or end of a season, these episodes should be listed without numbers as "Unknown" episodes on the series.

I have corrected the "Christmas Special 2018" episode and removed the numbers so that it will now display correctly under "Unknown" episodes: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2345459/episodes?season=-1
Second, concerning the Release Date, this update should have been approved.  I have now added the missing release date for episode 17.2 and it should be live on the site shortly.

Cheers!

Hi again,

I'm still having problems adding episodes to this TV-series.

For most additions, the release date is still being held back, but I'm been able to get it added before the air date by resubmitting it.

But for the fifth episode of this season my entire addition was tagged with "Lack of supporting evidence" (#190202-134314-627000). While I can't really see the point of this exaggerated gate-keeping on this particular TV series, I guess I could have added a Miscellaneous Link with my addition, I'll do that from this point forward.

However, when I followed the instructions and resubmitted the entry with "Explanation for missing information" filled in with a link to the episode on the official site, it was instead declined all-together (#190203-121735-167000) -- as a potential duplicate..? A duplicate of what, my already declined entry..? There is no episode 17.5 accepted on the site, so I can't see any actual duplicates here.

1) Can you help me re-check this particular entry for the fifth episode of season 17? It's clearly listed on the official site, along with the cast I added (just as I described in my resubmission): https://www.channel4.com/programmes/8-out-of-10-cats-does-countdown/episode-guide

2) How should I submit these episode in the future to prevent this from repeating over and over for every episode I try to add to the site for this TV-series..? It's taking too much time and effort for this to be worth it for me, so please make this easier if you want the information added for this TV series -- or please tell me what I'm doing wrong. I've submitted a lot of TV episodes for a lot of TV series, and this is the only one that keeps on being declined or delayed over and over like this.

Thanks in advance
/Gustav

Apologies Gustav, this is a mistake on our part and this episode should have been accepted. I've now resubmitted this on your behalf which will go live shortly.

Regards,
Will

Thank you, Will!

No worries, mistakes happen and just prove that we've not yet been assimilated by Skynet, which is nice ;)

l'll make sure to add a miscellaneous link from the start next time, and please let me know if there's anything else I can do to help the process run smooth on this particular title.

Thanks
/Gustav

Same scenario this time, rejected due to lack of supporting evidence: #190209-171141-413000

I added a Miscellaneous Link in my submission this time, to a page showing the upcoming episode along with the guest cast.

How can I submit these to avoid this from happening over and over again?

Hi Gustav -

The evidence link you provided within your submission was valid and I have now approved the title, it should be live on the site shortly.

I have also taken additional steps to help prevent future incorrect rejections when proper evidence is provided, however, if these rejections continue, please let us know so we can investigate further.
