I am using "Watchlist" button to mark the movies that I watch. My watchlist is the films I have seen. And I made a second list named "wanna watch" to add the film that I want to see. But it is not obvious that watchlist is a button to mark the movies that you see. I mean I asked a lot of friends and searched the internet. Some people use it as "wanna watch" and others use it as "I saw that one." This has to be clear and a second button like "wanna watch" could be useful. And if you make 2 buttons available on main screens, make people choose how they used "watchlist" button before, make us move out movies to other list if we used it incorrectly. And when I use "Highest Rated IMDb "Top 250" Titles You Haven't Seen" facility, I want to see which ones I have seen too... Btw, I understood that I am using watchlist button correctly after I saw that list. Anyway, thank you.

If you have a film in your Watch List, IMDb will notify you by mail when it debuts in theaters.

ah.. I didn't know that... a mysterious purpose for a big button (imo).
Really, have seen/wanna see should be separate and obvious in my opinion.

You put films on your watch list, so you can keep an eye on their progress, it is the same kind of thing on Wikipedia and is used widely for a list of things our people to keep a watch out for:

n 1. a list of items that are to receive special attention.

What you are looking for is a Watched button and there are already ways to deal with it:

Thank you very much for your answers and explanations. I found "check-in" now. But if you look at UI experience's side, it is a well-hidden button:) Keeping a track on watched films is great, I think related button have to be found more intuitively. I read related posts that you listed and there are people like me, who can't find check-in facility. By the way, I know what a watchlist is, but I couldn't figure out how it is used on IMDB (watch can be used both in watching a movie or watching updates about something - my bad, english is my foreign language), I never got updates or news with email with the movies that are on my watchlist. Thank you very much for your time and considerations.

You have to enable the option to get emails based on changes on your Watchlist in your site settings.
