A new idea for the IMDB website/mobile app

Hello, happy new year 2k20 to you and your team. Am ruben, from India - a pilot & an avid movie buff. And to know about movies, their related info and other things, I've always turned to imdb without any second thought.

Recently, I had this strange idea - I was wondering how many movies I have watched so far... I had to admit I have no clue as to how many movies I have actually watched and I have no record of it anywhere whatsoever.

So here's the idea - Why don't you include a button which says- "I've watched this", Just like the "Add to my Watchlist" button, say conveniently near the "Add to my watchlist" button itself?

And if the user clicks on it, it will get added sequentially and get updated and actually show the no. of movies he/she has watched. This way, we can keep track of how many movies we have watched (in our entire lifetime!!)

Come on, we are talkin' movies here and I thought this might be a very interesting and useful inclusion to this AMAZ(ON)ing website.

Kindly discuss it over with your team and do let me know what you think about it.

Awaiting your reply. Have a good day.

Thanks & regards

If you rate a movie (or a videogame, or any title that can be rated), it'll be recognized as "Watched" by IMDb.

It would be better even if we don't rate it but still hv the option to "watched" it on our own. 'Cos I believe most of the imdb viewers/users don't rate or review a movie... they just visit to know about a movie...

You can also create a list and name it "List of movies I've seen" or anything you like.

And whenever you've watched a movie,

You can go to its page > place your cursor on the "+" sign, and it'll show you a few of your lists.

There you can easily click to add the movie on your list.

By the way, I'd advise you not to post personal details like your phone number and email here (or any other social media site).

Not only scammers but all kinds of cyberattacks like pranks, bullies, theft/fraud, etc.

You gotta be careful, buddy.

Ruben Rajkavi,

IMDb implemented the "Seen" feature based on a suggestion posted on IMDb's Get Satisfaction forum (in other words this website). It allows users to indicate that they have seen all or part of a film or television program without rating it. The "Seen" feature is available for all IMDb title lists. Here is an example for the IMDb Top 250 (http://www.imdb.com/chart/top) from my IMDb account:

Sadly, this feature is largely undocumented.

For more information, please see:
FAQ: IMDb Seen Gets an Upgrade
FAQ: IMDb Seen now available on poll results...
What is the "seen" option next to top 250 list???
