A User Keeps Entering Spoilers Plus Making Up Characters In The Wrestling Guides

Hello,

I work to help out with a lot of the wrestling guides on here, but one problem I have noticed is a user (frontmancsg) who enters the Plot Outlines for most guides.

In wrestling there are some characters that only have a first name or a last name such as Bayley, Goldberg, Saturn, Allie etc. In the Plot Outline this user will add the person's real life first or last name to make sure everyone has both.

For example (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7781518/?ref_=ttep_ep4). The character name is Allie and it is written as Allie Dennis in the Outline. There is no one named that.

This is the smaller of the two problems. In wrestling, just like any TV show there will be surprise returns, debuts etc.

If this results in a match for the returning or debuting wrestling this user always puts it in the Plot Outline. For example (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8522594/?ref_=tt_ep_pr) it was a surprise that one of the wrestlers returned in this episode and this spoils it for anyone who clicked on the page.

If someone was posting spoilers in a review without labeling it IMDB would take action so hopefully they can do the same here.

Hi, Kevin Cantor. You can make this right, by clicking the "Edit page" button (found in the "Contribute to This Page" section, or generally toward the bottom) of a page, setting up a plot outline correction, and then submitting it. If the problem persists, then the IMDb staff may have a little chat with the person who keeps incorporating what you consider to be spoilers in the plot info of wrestling episodes.

Hi Jeorj,

Thanks for the response. I do try to update them, but I have actually seen some of my corrections get reversed later, so this user is persistent.

I am hoping IMDB can have that chat because this has been going on for years. You can scroll through WWE Monday Night Raw, WWE Smackdown, TNA Impact Wrestling and many others to see proof of it.

Hi Kevin -

As Jeorj mentioned above, if you see errors or spoilers in Plot Outlines on the site please continue submit the applicable corrections for our editors to review.  In the meantime, I have reached out to the contributor you referenced and re-directed them to our guides, I have also requested that they post in this thread if they have a disagreement and would like to communicate their reasoning regarding the character names.  Cheers!

Hi Michelle,

I'm just following up on this because it seems to be a problem again. It seemed like the user got the message and was only writing correct names, but now they're back to making up names for the characters.

Here's an example where the name Drago actually appears in the title and the user added Drago Flores in the outline: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8966728/

Since it was only 20 episodes I edited the plot outline for almost every one in this show, but either IMDB reversed them back after accepting them or this user went back in and changed them all.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8287416/?ref_=tt_ov_inf

I edited a number of episodes for TNA Impact Wrestling as well and most got changed back.

Hi Kevin -

Is there an online source that can help confirm the Plot Outlines for this series?  Please note that we do allow character names to be displayed within Plot Outlines, so if the characters are mentioned this doesn't breach our policy, however, if the Plot Outline is incorrect or featuring names of characters not relevant to the episode, then the Plot Outline will need to be reported and a correction submitted.

Hi Michelle,

I see that below Cliff added the site for MLW. For Impact Wrestling here is the official roster page with all of the characters: https://impactwrestling.com/roster/

And you can see here in the Season 15 page that they are making up names in almost every episode: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0421463/episodes?ref_=tt_ep_epl

Steven "Kongo Kong" Wilson instead of Kongo Kong
Chandler Park instead of Abyss
Allie Dennis instead of Allie
King "El Hijo del Fantasma" Cuerno instead of El Hijo del Fantasma
Angel Ortiz instead of Ortiz
Mark Sanchez-Santana instead of Santana
Johnny "Impact" Hennigan instead of Johnny Impact

Those are just a few of the examples. I will provide links for all the WWE shows shortly.

This is the official outlet for viewing it appears. MLW own descriptions do indeed list the wrestlers by their "Character name" and DO NOT use a second name if the "Character" goes by a single name. Drago is always referred to as "Drago" not Drago Flores. You can see this in the link above.

Hi Kevin -

Thanks for posting those links, I understand that the main on-going issue is the way that these names are being listed in the outlines.  I will reach out to the contributor again and clarify further that they should only include the exact character when referenced within the outline.

Hi Michelle,

It looks like the user has stopped adding incorrect names, for the time being, but there is still the issue of spoilers.

For example: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8820692/?ref_=ttep_ep_cur

The first match listed "Austin Aries vs. Fallah Bahh" was announced after something happened during the show. This should not be publicly displayed on the episode page.

It looks like the issue of incorrect information carries over to other shows as well. Skip and Shannon: Undisputed is a weekday sports talk show on FS1.

For one episode this was the plot outline:

"College football analyst Joel Klatt joins in to debate if it is surprising that University of California, Los Angeles Bruins head coach Charles "Chip" Kelly is off to a zero wins and three losses start to this season; and much more. (#555)"

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8996248/?ref_=tt_eps_cu_n

Chip Kelly is the coach of the UCLA Bruins, a college football team. Charles Kelly may be his given name at birth, but professionally he has used Chip for 20 years. I don't think having "Chip" as a nickname is necessary or correct.

There are a few episodes where rapper Wale made a guest appearance. The plot outline refers to him as Olubowale "Wale" Akintimehin. This is similar as this may be his given name, but professionally he is referred to as simply Wale.

It seems like the theme is that the user frontman passes judgment on what he believes are "normal" names and if they do not fit that imaginary criteria then they will be listed with some alternate or potentially incorrect name.

Hi Kevin -

Thanks for the additional reports.  For any existing Plot Outlines you encounter that include the incorrect names, please feel free to submit the applicable corrections.  Concerning the contributor of that data, I have forwarded your comments to our editorial team who will investigate further and take the applicable actions to help prevent this issue from occurring further.

For plot outlines, I (usually) follow a few rules:
1) If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
2) If someone already created a decent plot outline - the one without any mistakes/bad grammar/spoilers/etc, I won’t change/edit it (look rule nr. 1).
3) Plot outlines should be no longer than 239 characters. Longer plots can be submitted as a plot summary.
