Hello to anyone. Recently I was revising the movie Cobb (Ron Shelton, 1994) about legend baseball player Ty Cobb, and in the writing credits I found a strange data. It mentions "Cobb: A Biography", written by Al Stump, as source of the material for the movie, but in the Wikipedia's page about Stump this book is dated as 1996, two years later (besides to mention other book, "Cobb: The Life and Times of the Meanest Man in Baseball", as the real source). I'm tried for nothing to discover the truth between both books, but I'm afraid to being unable to find which is the right year of the publication of the book. Anybody can help me to clarify which is the truth in this mess? Thanks in anticipation...

Iván,

The paperback was released in January 1996 and the hard cover was released in October 1994.

Keep in mind that the source material for the book could have been given to Ron Shelton before the book was released.

You might also find this Smithsonian article of interest (the "Sources" section at the end also gives 1994 as the publication date for "Cobb: A Biography"):

PeterD, I watched your Smithsonian's link and I saw about the book. Perhaps in the Wikipedia's page misspelled the year, writing 1996 instead 1994. Now my doubts are clear. Thanks PeterD and Dominque Preyer.
