Hi,

Since yesterday, I have had very limited access to IMDb and have not been able to do what I usually do and am not sure whether it's a problem with IMDb or my browser. When I log onto my IMDb profile (IMDb name: TheLittleSongbird, am having trouble copying and pasting the link here), the only part of the page that's normal is the reviews. The rest of the page looks incomplete (can't even see my own name at the top right as usual), cut off or oddly laid out, and the bottom of the page that usually has the different options is completely obscured by three or four variably shaped boxes of a blue colour.

The IMDb homepage and every single page I visit, whether it's a film/television/episode title or of anything and anyone involved in them, are unusable, I can see nothing but a huge white blank box that covers everything, making it impossible to write reviews or view ratings and cast/crew lists. My browser is Internet Explorer in case you need to know, I do not think though that my browser is the problem because I don't use plug-ins and ad-blockers that have caused problems for many wanting to write reviews since the review layout changed. This is frustrating for me, being a prolific reviewer and having contributed to the site significantly over a long period of time.

Thank you

Bethany

Hi Bethany (AKA TheLittleSongbird),
This is a link to your user profile: http://www.imdb.com/user/ur20552756/

It looks like your last review was on 28 February 2018 for Ko-Ko the Kop (1927).

If you have access to another PC / laptop, try logging into account from that device.

If you're still having trouble logging into your IMDb account, please send a message to the IMDb Helpdesk via this form:

http://www.imdb.com/helpdesk/login_problems

Please provide IMDb staff with the nickname on the account you're referencing.

Note: this option only works for users who are not logged into their IMDb account.

I'm sorry I'm not able help beyond this since I'm not an IMDb staff member.

Hi Bethany,

In my initial response, I focused on what to do if you are unable to log in.

I re-read your problem report . From what I can tell, you are able to log into your account but you cannot see IMDb pages because of display problems. You may still wish to try to log into IMDb with another laptop or PC to help isolate the problem.

Here are some possible reasons for your problem:
1. This was a temporary problem with IMDb. If so this should be resolved by now.

2. There may be a new issue with your Internet Service Provider (ISP). If this is so, you may be having problem with other websites.

3. It's possible that you've run into a memory leak with your PC / laptop. Per Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memory_leak): In computer science, a memory leak is a type of resource leak that occurs when a computer program incorrectly manages memory allocations in such a way that memory which is no longer needed is not released.

In this case, do the following:
3a. Close all of your applications.
3b. You may wish to also defragment your hard drive if you have not done so in a long time.
3c. Reboot your PC / laptop.
3d. Wait a few minutes after your PC / laptop has rebooted to make certain the PC / laptop has completed running its system programs.
3e. Open your browser and try accessing IMDb.com.

Hi Bethany,

At least one other person is having problems accessing IMDb with Internet Explorer. For details, please see this thread:

Thanks for the problem report. We have opened a ticket with the appropriate team.

As other customers have now noted, this is a browser specific problem with Internet Explorer and we are investigating now.

This should be fixed now (or will be shortly as our servers are updating now with a fix for the issue).  Thanks again for the problem reports and sorry for the inconvenience.
