Account recovery problem

Hi guys and gals,

So it seems that as a security precaution, IMDB has reset everyone's password on the 12th of September. The result has been that I've been logged out of my account and can't get back in. Normally, I would just go through the "forgot my password" procedure to recover it, but my account is ancient – 9 years old – and the email address associated with it has been deleted.

I can't use the automated account recovery procedure because I never filled in much in the way of personal information (such as date of birth and security question) but there are some details there that only I would know, which could be used to verify me as the owner. In my defense, I've never forgotten a password, and this is only happening because IMDB has reset it for me.

Can someone please help me out here? My account is over 9 years old and has around 775 ratings. I really don't want to lose all of that history...

Feeling really down because of this right now.

I don't know where you're getting the info that IMDb reset everyone's password, but that never happened (at least, I've never heard such a thing and also mine was not reset).

Staff has said, over and over, that if recover doesn't work for you, you'll need to start a new account. 

That said, as the main page of this board says, you'll need to, for account problems, contact staff directly. They won't discuss your passwords, emails, etc., on a public forum.

No, they didn't reset passwords but they did make change that you have to sign in with the email address you used rather than a nickname. So even if the email isn't active, you can still use it to log in with existing password. Once you do that, if you can, then you should immediately change the email to one that you currently use.
