I can't verify my exisiting account for IMDb message board.
After I choose my country and type in my mobile phone number, I'll receive a PIN via text message. I'll type that quickly in and after clicking on Continue button I'll get again a page where you have to choose a country and type in you mobile phone number with error messages that I didn't choose a country nor I didn't enter my mobile phone number.

This same issue is already many months old!

Why isn't this fixed?!

Hello Vale,

I am not aware of this issue being reported before. May I ask if you've experienced this issue using an alternate browser or computer?

Correct, champions are just users that answer a lot of questions. It's a vanity title as thank you instead of just "member". But neither I or any Champion work for IMDB and our opinions are our own.

99% of the time I'm just directing people to information that is already here that they have missed. Sometimes I go in and do page edits for people if the person does not seem to understand how but has provided enough information for me to go find verification of their data. (but any user can do that). I don't even have IMDBpro, just a free account like anyone else.

Charlio,

You're misunderstanding...pretty much everything you're commenting on. Strange since you're suggesting you know more than "experts" but there you go...

In one, or more, of your other posts (and have implied it here too) that a phone number can only be used one time for one account. That's not true. There is no limit to the number of accounts you can authenticate with one cell phone number. You objected to a user's suggestion to borrow a number and said that it was stupid because that person might have or want their own account. They can certainly both have accounts authenticated that way. The only issue would be, if one or both of them abuses the site and has the number removed, it would not then be available to use again (which is the whole point of authentication...abusers will run out of ways to authenticate, when in the past they could simply make a new account with a new free email account.

It might be a good idea to know at least a fraction of what you're talking about before flooding the boards with useless, trolling crap.

To Nobody,

You're correct. Employees name tags say, "employee" or "official rep."

See the following, Official Response, which is rather vague.  Without seeing the details of the code in the website, who knows?  My theory is good.  Obviously IMDB paid for some lame software developers to write this verification process, if we see things your way.  #1 is basically saying you may not receive authentication because you may not be getting a text message.  LOL?  For #2, there is no definition of what is revoked, but it's possible.  If it's never been invoked, then how is that different than revoked for the same #?  Let's have IMDB post the source code so we can get to the bottom of why it sucks.  Most likely outsourced to Indians.  They are generally the worst computer programmers compared to any other race, because they don't admit when they are wrong, nor do they bother to find out.  Jump to the bold italics after the #2 sentence.  Obviously a flaw in understanding the English language.

Giancarlo Cairella, Official Rep - Official Response

Just to clarify the current situation: we are not aware of any issues with the authentication process at this time -- it's being used successfully by many users every day and our tests indicate that it works. So if you are still having problems authenticating your account via a SMS text, there are two possible explanations.

1) your phone is not receiving text messages from our system for some reason (which could be due to a network issue or problem with your phone carrier)
or
2) your phone number has already been used in the past for authentication purposes and the authentication has been revoked. If that's the case, you can't use it again.

The second condition is by design: the system has been designed to prevent access to certain features (e.g. posting in the boards) when authentication has been revoked, so using it the same phone number is not possible.

The first condition is harder to identify/explain. If you are positive that your phone number hasn't been used before to authenticate, i would suggest trying again at a later time

Either way, I'm afraid that the only workaround is to use a different authentication method.

I don't mean to sound dismissive although I realize this may sound a bit vague -- I understand that not being able to authenticate can be frustrating. But unfortunately, there are many possible reasons why this may not not work, and most of them are outside of our control (since the process relies on sending a text, which is delivered by external carriers, in some cases more than one)

I also tried to use this method for last 3 days and never get the return text.
