My acting credit for apearing as "John Asquith" in the TV show "Forensic Investigators" was moved (not by me) to be listed as an appearance as "self". This is not correct, it was an acting role. How can this be corrected?

It has to do with the way the series is listed. Since it's a documentary series, all acting credits are sorted as self credits. To avoid this, the keyword "reenactment" should be listed. I will submit this for you, so your listing should change within a week or so.

I am having the same problem with two of my credits, the TV series were both reenactment shows and are listed as documentary. How can this be corrected?

As Peter says in the above reply: "To avoid this, the keyword "reenactment" should be listed." If you provide the series/episode, someone here can submit the keyword addition.

Thanks for the title links. I submitted requests to add the "reenactment" keyword. This, when processed, should change the cast list to include those with character names to acting category rather than self.
It should probably take a few days to process. I'll check back and see if that did the trick.

It has completed processing and the credits now appear as "acting" credits instead of "self" credits on your page.

Thanks again BluesmanSF, unfortunately another credit of mine just bounced over to "self" after being an "acting" credit for years! It is this one
https://pro-labs.imdb.com/title/tt1721695/
It even has the character I played listed by name "Barnaby"...now all of a sudden it is self, I don't understand. Can you make any sense of it?

Strange. That page used to have "keywords," (though I cannot see if one was "reenactment") but they've somehow all been removed. There currently are no keywords.
So, I submitted to add "reenactment" back to the page which would result in any cast listed with a character name instead of "him/herself" and that should fix it.
Submission ID number 140925-185918-592000.
Note, a former version of the page lists keywords (the current view does not).

My IMDB link is http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2959689/
And the credits are HOLY GRAIL IN AMERICA and MONSTERQUEST.
Thank you!

Mike: I see that both of these titles have "reenactment" listed in their keywords. Do you know if that keyword was added very recently? I've found that it doesn't take effect (in terms of moving people from "Self" to "Actor"/"Actress) immediately; it might take a few days for it to work properly.

Ahhh... yes, I added the "reenactment" keywords after I read this thread. I will monitor. Thanks!

Hi guys. A 'self' credit from Dinah just appeared on my page. I don't know how that happened but it is wrong! Any help to delete it? http://www.imdb.com/name/nm4273191/#actress

Not sure why you posted into this topic. It has nothing to do with you or even a remotely similar type of problem. But, it is the 1970's talk show hosted by Dinah Shore and she had a guest that day by the same name as you, who is a gospel singer. I'll submit a request to move it to her page. Tbe result will be there will be two pages in your name, but they'll have Roman numerals assigned to keep them separated.

No worries. It's best, if your post doesn't relate to any of the similar ones offered, to start your own. They offer previous conversations because it's possible (and likely) the question has already been answered. But those above are talking about their own credits, showing as "self" instead of an acting credit. The "self" in your case is right, it's just on the wrong page (which was likely because the name already appeared in IMDb so they assumed it was the same person-but since you'd have been a toddler, it's not likely going to have been you performing a gospel song on the show).
You're very welcome!

You guys have all been very helpful before and I thank you. I am trying to do this myself but having no luck. How do I add "reenactment" back to the page to result in any cast listed with a character name instead of "him/herself" ?
It happened again with a new credit of mine
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4622816/combined
I played the character of William Sheppard and it's listed me as self instead of actor

Andy Gates posted a link to the "Secret Space Disasters" series page:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4622816/combined
His credit is listed on the "Mir Fire" episode page at:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4950434/
The credit is listed under "Self" in the filmography on the Name page because the "reenactment" keyword is not present on the title.
To Mr. Gates:
Have you submitted the "reenactment" keyword for the episode
(via the "Edit page" button on the episode's keywords page)?
Note that a keyword addition may take a few days to process. At the time of this reply, the processing times page indicates that keyword submissions are expected to be processed within about 4 business days.
Is it known with reasonable certainty that all of the episodes of that series will be reenactments? If that is virtually certain, then I suppose that the "reenactment" keyword should also be submitted for the series. (But I'm not an expert on the rules for IMDb keywords.)
