Actor credited for one episode instead of full series

A particular actor was in every episode of a series, but he is listed as only being in one episode. I've tried to add him at the series level but it rejects, saying that he's already credited for one episode. Should I delete him from that one episode and then add him back at the series level? Or can I update his listing somehow to reflect his actual episode count?
(This is actually an issue with a few of the actors in the series, but I'm working on the guy listed on one episode before the one listed on 40!)
Thank you for any help.

You mentioned your update being rejected when you submitted the data on the series level. Did you submit the information described in the following IMDb Help Center page link?

How do I add an episodic credit? - Adding credits for multiple episodes

If there was an issue with the submission, please post the 18-digit reference number so an IMDb representative can review the rejected update and respond.

As far as deleting and then submitting the same credit on the series level page, it is not recommended.

In addition to the reference number, you could also post the URL of the title so an IMDb editor or some contributors can review the page so they can provide more specific answers to your questions.

I'm looking forward to your response.

I may have been unclear.  I'm NOT trying to add the actor to multiple episodes.  He currently has a credit for one episode, but he should be added for ALL episodes, for the entire series. He is in every episode.

Rather as if Matthew Perry was listed for only one episode of Friends. (That's not the case, but it's an analogy.) He should obviously be listed on all episodes, as one of the main and credited actors of the show.

I do not have a reference number for the contribution, as it was unable to be submitted. I got the red "this contribution has been rejected" box, stating that I could not add the actor at the series level because he is already there for one episode.

For TV series, actors shouldn't be added at the series level. They need to be added at the individual episode level.

Thank you. So, I should instead edit the actor's single episode entry to reflect instead all the episodes?

Two follow-up questions, in this case.
1) How do I do this? When I try to edit the Cast list, I only see the actors listed at the series level. I do not see my guy. (I do see him on the "full cast & crew" page itself, but not on the edit page.)

2) If I edit from the actor's page instead, I don't see any place to edit the episode numbers, unless I want to add them individually. And there are about 300 episodes.

I appreciate the assistance. I just want to make imdb better!

You either have to edit the individual episodes or the actor's page. Entering individual episodes while editing an actor's page is somewhat tricky as that field is character limited. I suggest bringing up the list of episodes and copying the title link into that field. There's no easy way to make a mass edit like this.

Hmmm.  I can't see myself editing 300+ episodes, much as I do want to help.  I will try again with the actor's page.

Maybe I can use one of the actually-credited actors as a template.  Something to try, anyway.

Thank you, Adrian.

Hi dragon-158 -

In addition to the information Adrian provided above, you can find detailed instructions on how to submit a single episode credit on the following Help guide: https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/filmography-credits/how-do-i-add-an-episodic-credit/GRRHU...

Cheers!

Thank you, Michelle. Again, I am NOT trying to add a single episode credit. This actor was in EVERY episode of a series (with on-screen credit), and I want to give him this credit on imdb.

Hi dragon-158 -

Thanks for clarifying, on that same Help guide there is a separate section for submitting episode credits for a TV Series in bulk:  https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/filmography-credits/how-do-i-add-an-episodic-credit/GRRHU...
