In 181117-223541-841000, I asked for this guy to be saved as Aleksey Filippov (III) because there are (I) and (II). However, he's now live as Aleksey Filippov (IV). Why? https://www.imdb.com/find?ref_=nv_sr_fn&q=aleksey+filippov&s=all

No.
But he has no credit in the search results although he's been a director. Weird as well.

This correction has been rejected. You need to correct this correction before it will be accepted.
  • This correction has no effect.
The corrected name is identical to the original name and has been rejected as a result.

I'm guessing the only way to get around this would be to move the page from "Filippov, Aleksey (IV)" to "Filippov, Aleksei", wait for it to go live, and then turn right around and move the page from "Filippov, Aleksei" to 'Filippov, Aleksey (III)".

That's the whole point. He was Alexei Filippov before my correction. I've heard that you can't just change the number without merging or changing the spelling. Maybe it's got something to do with the fact that I merged two pages into Aleksey Filippov (II) (and probably the other page was exactly (III)), but that was back on November 9.
Did you get "This correction has been rejected" when you tried to change the current name?

Changing the name back and forth could just result in it becoming number (V).

If there was previously a Aleksey Filippov (III), it's possible that (III) cannot be reused so soon. Staff can probably clarify.

Reference: "If the page with the numeral was removed form the site, that roman numeral will in time automatically be released again for re-use, we cannot manually add/modify roman numerals."

Hi Saluton,

Thanks for your post.

Please note, there are a few reasons why a numeral may be used up on the system but not visible on the website - for example, one reason may be that the name page previously existed but has since been removed due to inactivity. Alternatively, this may have also been merged into another name page with another numeral.

However, to avoid confusion among our users and to prevent potential loss of data due to unnecessary corrections, we do not change or reorder roman numerals once they have been assigned, except as dictated by internal technical requirements.

I hope this helps!

Joel
