Ad Banner

I can well understand why you finance yourself through advertising. However, it is sufficient for me as a user to convey a message with a banner. But not with two banners of the same content. (The lower one floats freely, with a small cross to close - the banner above with the same content is firmly anchored in the app layout).

Both banners cover almost half of the screen height with this advertisement.

See uploaded screenshot.

It would be nice if you could fix this problem. I'm using the app with the last update today.

Thank you.

Thanks for letting us know! We're looking into this now. What were you doing just before you saw this?

The smartphone was restarted, then I immediately started the IMDb app.

It's just disrespectful how you let this thread die out here...

Odd........ John has not made a reply to anyone since you. You were the last.
Maybe another IMDb Employee might reply!

So many apologies - meant to follow up. We believe we've squashed this bug in the newest release (9.9) - are you still seeing the issue? If so, can you confirm if you went to the title page from search or from clicking a poster somewhere in the app?

Thank you for your answer. I'm glad you're still on the ball.

When a new version is distributed, it would be nice to let the user know that they think the problem has been fixed - the user should report again if the problem still exists. But not reacting at all is the wrong way. :-)

To answer your question: Unfortunately, the problem still exists.

Exact description:

If I restart the app and remain in the Home screen without any further action, only the advertising banner firmly anchored in the scroll area appears (for theatres near me) - which I think is correct and so intended.

But as soon as I click for example the first link of "most popular movies" (Avengers: Endgame), the same banner appears additionally at the bottom of the floating layer. This free floating banner then stays at this position (if you change screens, it will only be reloaded) - no matter which advertising banners are already on a new page (e.g. search for movies by entering movie titles).

Usually it is the banner from my screenshot. Today there was also a HBO advertisement - otherwise the same problem.

Thanks so much, Markus. Your description helped pinpoint the issue. We have an engineer working on this now. We'll include the fix in our next update (9.10).
