Currently the search by name constant gives you a mass of their work, like this one for Quentin Tarantino:
http://www.imdb.com/search/title?role=nm0000233
What it needs is the ability to include the ability to break this down by category, so that we can dig out, say, the films he directed or acted in. This has always seemed like a pretty useful addition to the search, but it has become vital since the recent changes to the sorting of filmographies, which now go through the search:

Presumably this is related to the problem I flagged up a while back (and you replied on):
https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/topics/the_porn_filter_cant_be_enabled_on_advanced_search
Also the poor quality of filters in the sidebar doesn't help this change either:
https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/topics/add_the_filter_options_to_the_sidebar_of_the_search_results
If they could add this feature and fix the above two issues, then it might be reasonably functional replacement for the existing feature - with none of them it is a mess. In fact they should probably reverse the decision until it is fit for purpose (i.e. when all these three issues are addressed).

Just thought I'd let everyone know.
