IMDb has a helpful but underutilized feature showing you what titles in your Watchlist are available to watch online - Hulu, Amazon, Crackle, WB, etc. Why not expand this to YouTube (as long as the videos are legal uploads), perhaps even Netflix (although I understand it's a paid service IMDb doesn't have a partnership with, so it might be out of the question).

The problem is that Netflix is a direct competitor with Amazon's Instant video streaming service in the US and LoveFilm in the UK, so I doubt they'd ever link to them this side of a merger. It is interesting that they also link to Hulu, Snapfilms, Crackle, etc. as they might also be seen as competition, but they have clearly reached some kind of deal, perhaps Netflix doesn't want to play.

YouTube would be a tricky one, as the number of illegal videos vastly outweighs the official ones (Troma, for example, have a lot of their movies online), so accidentally including one of those above the fold in the video gallery would put a lot of people's noses out. I seem to recall they did do this with YouTube back in the day (but I could be wrong) but they must have stopped because of this, and it is also somewhat of a competitor with WAB (not having YouTube videos in the video gallery does really help drive traffic to WAB). I would really appreciate this as a feature though as there is a lot that could be added - I have submitted quite a few as links (to YouTube and Vimeo) but as it almost disappears in the noise there doesn't seem to be much incentive to do this (the production companies rarely seem to do it).

Thanks for the info, that explains a ton. Maybe any title available on Amazon Instant would link there, but any without an Amazon option could point to other services? Just a thought.

Yeah, I thought YouTube might be tricky. However IMDb already has links to full movies on YouTube via the External Links/Video Clips category. The new tech I would like to see implemented would just make it easier to filter my Watchlist by whether videos are available online or not.

Yep, that's why I'd like to see it too - not including it means you miss out a huge slice of films that are free to watch. There must be a way of making this work, but I think IMDB would rather film-makers used WAB to upload their films to IMDB, although the truth is, a lot of people don't because of the strengths of YouTube (you get the exposure, social media aspects and can monetise your content).
