adding connections doesn't show all exact title matches

This is not new, but it really should improve.

I want to add On the Town (1949) as a Connection, but the Contribution page cannot find it.

Using the search box atop nearly every IMDb page certainly does:

Adding to a list certainly does:

Please fix the Contribution page(s) to do the same!

At the very least, the Contribution algorithm should list ALL exact matches before reverting to close-ish choices.

On the other hand, notice that one of the choices found by Contributions, the (2004) (V) entry, 3rd down, is not among the exact title matches.

Hi bderoes -

Thanks for reporting the issue.

I was able to replicate the problem and I have filed a ticket for the appropriate team.  In the meantime, a workaround is to enter the title number (i.e. tt0041716) in the "Other Title" text field and the form will recognize the title.   Once I have a status on the ticket I will be sure to update you here.

Michelle, it would be awfully nice (a lot fewer steps) if we could paste the entire url instead of just the title number. This already works for adding titles to a list.

It might be nice but how is it any fewer steps?

1) To pick up the url: right click, copy from the search results.

2) To pick up the tt#: open the page for the title from the search results, double click on the #, copy.
Alternate: pick up the url from the search results, paste, then delete words of the url around the tt#.
Either way, extra steps, and extra time.

This has been an issue for a very long time. Not only that but there seems to be no rhyme or reason for what is listed. For example, I tried to add Ghostbusters (1984) to a title and I don't think the actual Ghostbusters movie showed up. I've given up and just google the movie and paste in the title number.

Hopefully the time to fix this has arrived.
