No rhyme nor reason for a lot of photos. The uploader of the photo (person) entered the data that way. Sometimes it is because they are not familiar with where the photo came from.
Similar to your list deletion issue, I suspect this is due to an issue with your browser. You should attempt the suggestions there, and then write us back with the name and URL of the list, along with the specific name that is appearing twice.
