Imdb has got to allow the letters æ, ø and å (in English letters for ae, oe and aa) in websiteadresses. This is now accepted in webadresses in Europe. These vowels are common in Scandiunavian countries as well as other German-speaking countries.
I tried to write in the website address www.svartsnø.no, but imdb wants me to write www.svartsno.no, but then says this is not corresponding with a functioning website.
But the address with "ø" is the correct and links correct.
CXan imdb fix the site so that these three vowels are allowed in webadresses as well as in ordinary writing on the page?

Which browser is that you're using?
It doesn't function for me with Chrome, Explorer or Safari.
Could it be because you are not situated in any Scandinavian country.
These three extra vovels, and the letter 27, 28 and 29 in the alphabet.
It's mostly Norway, Denmark and Faeroe Islands (Færøyene) which uses æ, ø and å.
Finland, Sweden uses ä and ö and also has å.
Estonia, Germany, Hungary and Turkey are in stead using ä, ö and has no letter for å.
But imdb features accept those letters everywhere else, when typing original titles, it's just not in websiteadresses.
The use of æ, ø and å in websiteadresses was apporoved by Icann in 2009, so it's about time.
Like it is now, it's impossible to type the correct siteadress into a submission form, because imdb won't allow it,. Hence the submittance of a website is impossible other than in a text-field.

However, can you confirm that http://xn--svartsn-w1a.no/ does not take you to www.svartsnø.no? What kind of error message do you get from that? If it did work, you could convert the addresses using æ, ø and å into ASCII-compatible addresses using Punycode (see http://www.punycoder.com/).

http://xn--svartsn-w1a.no/ does take me to www.svartsnø.no.
The other day it didn't though, I just got stupid Bing turning up suggesting.
But today it functions, at least in Explorer and Chrome.
So that's a solution. But then there should be a better explantion/suggestions on this when inserting one of the "illegal" letters in imdb-slots awaiting urls, I think.
