All of my submissions, productions of last 3 years have been deleted without notice/reason. About 5 titles, full crews, 2 of them shown at Cannes Festival, others in production in France, the US and Spain hundreds of professional crew. What happened?

JF: Please provide a link to your IMDb page (or if that's gone too, provide your exact IMDb name), and tell us what the titles were that were deleted.

Not tonight. I think your best bet is to see if the IMDb staff will respond to this thread. I'll try to call their attention to it. But there is no guarantee that they will respond tomorrow, or if they do, they may need to open a ticket which could take days to resolve.

Thank you for your answer. Do you have any idea how how this could have happened? Has this ever happened? I mean it is as if years of my professional life have just been erased.

Yes I was the one who submitted every production. This would mean re-entering hundreds of names. We are producing 5 project simultaneously, and 3 of them have been in production for a many months indeed so this could explain why they were removed as I did not change status lately like I usually do. But what bothers me is that 3 other titles that have been removed have been completed and released for a while now. And they are gone.

I see. Then, if you still have the submission numbers, you should post them so staff here can take a look.

Also, if you go to your submission history page and click the actual submission reference number, you can re-open and re-submit it, presumably, and not have to enter each line item again.

check it at your account settings page under "View your submissions."

Ok I will do that, thank you for your answer. But for productions that were already released, any idea on why this would also have been deleted?

Not a clue. That's a tough one. It's unusual to have titles deleted after they've been released.

To request to have one deleted usually requires good proof it somehow does not qualify for inclusion in the database. I really don't know what could have happened.

If you list them, and include any possible guesses you might have, there are some real good researchers here that might be able to locate information.

Having been shown at Cannes would be a pretty good indication that it should be listed, I'd say.

Follow Your Sunshine http://web.archive.org/web/20141029035457/http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2323537/? seems to be one that is missing now?

It seems to have had a release date. Is it one that had been released and was available to the public?

Yes as you can see there are 2 short films that have been released. When you say "when deletion process is complete" , why should they be deleted? I mean you can see full crews on these productions, some with high profile crew members, why in the world would anyone delete them?

Thank you BluesmanSF. When you can tell me you have had hundreds of people working day and night on a project for years, invested millions of dollars and tens of thousands of hours on projects where you were able to bring major players of the industry, some Oscar recipients, then I will understand when you say "everyone's issue is important and urgent to them" with all due respect, with this gigantic responsibility I have on my shoulders, I have a pretty good thermometer of what situations can be more urgent than others. I appreciate that you are trying to help, but I see thousands of projects on IMDB that are nowhere near the level of activity and professionalism that goes in our productions. and I see no reason that ALL of our credit should have been removes, even those who were already released. It is not only unnerving for me but for all of our crew who have been working exclusively for us since 2013 and suddenly have nothing to show to the industry to which they give all their passion and are 100% dedicated. We are a core group of about 15 people this morning plus hundreds of other hard working individuals who have been robbed of 2 years work and credibility for no clear reason. I am actually pretty calm right now, compared to some people I know who would be going completely ballistic right now. I apologize if I come out as impatient, hope you understand my position. Thank you.

Why would I need to do that to know that everyone who posts with problems related to their work is really only worried about that issue...not yours?  I think you've completely missed the point.

Further, do you really think it's worth it for someone to take the time to evaluate the thousands of posts and put them in order based on how many names they affect? That really makes no sense. But mainly, my point is, if there were an "expedite this" option, everyone would use it. With their careers being affected...no offense, but...why would they care about yours and your cast/crew when their worried more about their own?

Robbed of work 2 years of work?
Seriously?

Oh, brother...

Anyway...just trying to caution you from shooting yourself in the foot as the site's creator just posted that 'bumping' makes it take longer, not shorter...just trying to help.

You're welcome.

edit to add:

See Col Needham's (creator and CEO of IMDb) reply warning against bumping and its affect on posts with regard to staff's monitoring of ongoing discussionshttps://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/topics/hi-michelle-and-other-imdb-staff-here-is-evidence-for-5-data...

Thank you for your answer. IMDB is very important for many workers in the industry who dedicate countless hours of their lives to an art they adore. This is more than how they win their bread, it is their whole life. But you already know that. On my end my crew means everything to me as they are a fabulous group of people. And my work means everything as well as I am also completely dedicated to what I do. I can understand that from your perspective it is unimportant and it's alright, I respect that. I am new to this community process and understand that you don't work for IMDB, which I did not get earlier. Thanks for the heads up about bumping. I appreciate it. Best

Not sure where you're getting that it's not important to me. I regularly contribute data to the site in the form of adding folks credits, etc. I don't know where you're speaking from but you're misunderstanding completely.

I never implied there is no importance to your topic/issue. Simply that while you think your topic deserves to go to the top of the heap...which is what the other 26,000 others who've posted here also think. So, again, my point is...if an "expedited" service was given, why would all 26,000 have chosen it (putting us back to square one).

I can't imaging why you'd think that folks taking the time to help would think your post is not important. Why else would they take the time to help?

Best, as well...hoping it can be resolved easily!

I understand. I'm just confused by what's happening. This is a huge responsibility for me and I take it to heart. Sorry if I offended you, I sincerely don't want that. Thank you for your help, and if you can find the patience to offer more advice for me to resolve this (resubmitting, proof, etc) it would be greatly appreciated. I know I received messages from IMDB to update status of productions (or they could be deleted) and this time I just did not follow through. That part I understand, I just don't understand why they deleted everything though.

Don't understand why they deleted this one for example:

Thanks for your help .

Mr. Gagnon:

Entries for titles that are submitted as being in development or in very early stages of production are removed when our editors are unable to verify their status. Since projects are often subject to change or be cancelled/delayed without notice, he existence of old trailers, teasers or promotional materials/events does not verify that the films are currently still in active development or production.

If/when these titles are eligible to be listed, you are welcome to resubmit them but we advise to wait until there is verifiable evidence that they have at least begun principal photography (i.e. are actually shooting) or our editors are unlikely to accept them again.

Hi again Henry. I now see in my IMDBPro "submissions section" that EVERYTHING I have submitted over last years has been suspended and deleted. Even productions that have been released and shown to public. This is gut wrenching, is there any way, anyone from IMDB explain to me why this is happening?

Thank you Henry. We have plenty of evidence that we are in production and can supply them to you. Nevertheless this would not explain why previously released material (2 short films with evidence from Cannes Festival) and collaboration on a movie Nitro (2007) have also been removed. Can you please explain?

Here is proof that The SUNSHINE SHOP (2013) Short film Screened at Cannes Festival in 2013. Why remove this title?

Please resubmit titles or any missing eligible data via the site, and include all relevant links, evidence, comments etc. in your submission so our editors can evaluate it in context and keep all the information together. Keep in mind that the best evidence is proof of release/screening/public exhibition, so sources verifying that a film has been released or shown at the festival is preferable to trailers and other promotional materials.

Henry, thank you for your answer but all of this is beyond madness. I know this is not your fault personally, and I can understand that I did not reply to messages asking me to update titles that were in production or in development, although this is very annoying I will resubmit them if I have to. But there was absolutely no excuse to erase productions that had already come out and had been verified by IMDB staff, productions that have been there for more that 2 years now. Now we have to re-enter all crew information and links, etc when we had done all this back then. Isn't there anyone at IMDB in charge that can take responsibility for this mistake that was made and at least bring back the titles and credits of material that is already out?

This is not an official reply, but I'm not sure
participation in the Short Film Corner is enough ....
FWIW, in an April 2014 reply, Michelle told someone:
"If your film is screening at the Cannes Short Film Corner,
you can submit this data under 'Release dates'...."

That it can be added as a release date is not quite the same thing as making the film eligible to be listed.

I don't know what types of evidence IMDb may require for proof of screening.

FWIW, in case it's of any use, here (via Google) is a cached copy
of a Cannes Court Métrage catalog page for Sunshine Shop.
(The page is apparently not available on the CCM site anymore,
but this copy was recorded by Google on September 24 2015.)
