Hello,

I am trying to remove an inaccurate 'Alternate Name' attribute from my filmography. Conveiently, IMDb has indefinitely locked editing this section; therefore, it seems my options are very limited in correcting the blatant ERROR/INACCURACY. I followed the instructions on removing this attribute, specifically on the 'Cantabridgia' credit. When I attempted to change this attribute, it informed me that I cannot change this credit on the "series level", which in my opinion seems arbitrary. So, I attempted to edit the specific (and only) episode level credit. That being said, the attribute is already removed from that episode. I am very frustrated and confused. If it is impossible to remove this attribute, I would really just like to know. This has been an issue for quite some time now and quite frankly I am getting impatient. IMDb seems to pride itself on it's doctrine that these film credits need to be accurate. If that is true, why maintain an inaccuracy? Quite perplexing.

When did you remove the attributes? If it's been more than a week, staff might have to manually change it as it might be a glitch. Otherwise, it usually gets removed automatically. So, no one is trying to be inaccurate. Anything can be changed/corrected. It just takes time.

The reason you need to change episodes is they are now considered stand-alone titles in the database. You need to change the data where it lives. For shows, that's the episodes. You can't change data from a page which just displays that data.

Go to the title page, click "edit page" and scroll to the bottom to "miscellaneous correction," which allows you to send a message to the page editor. Explain that the attributes are gone now and the AKA didn't change yet. Ask that he/she remove the now inaccurate entry. I'd be brief (as in, leave out the histrionics and complaints and just point out the error).

The section, as far as your situation exists, is not locked (as I think we've discussed). There used to be two types of AKA's. One is linked to the credits (as yours was) and two is those added by users (like, if they used to call you "Sparky Jon"). The one added by users is now locked as that would now go into the "Nickname" field (or others might be suited for the "birth name" field) and should not (now, cannot) be added at the AKA field which now is just an automated feature.

Good luck (and calm down...it'll all work out)

This is just a frustrating situation (as I've made abundantly clear). I have also tried to make the edit under 'miscellaneous credits" to no avail. I will try to figure this out. Thanks for the response.

I can submit it. I've done it a few times and it's worked fine each time. How long did you wait for it to process each time? Sending a new request while the first is processing (was two weeks before, now is one week) slows the process greatly. I think they get set aside until they have time to compare them and figure out why it's being re-submitted.

Thank you. I did wait probably two weeks or so between corrections. And I apologize for the terse posting.

No worries.

I submitted 150531-175408-597000. I'll keep checking on it and if nothing...we'll have staff take a look at the status of the submission.

And you're very welcome

Staff:

Can you check this submission? The AKA name needs to be removed. It was caused by credits being listed wrong. They were corrected based on the screen caps linked to in https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/topics/alternate-name-removal and though the (as ...) attributes were removed, the AKA name continues to display on the page.

Thanks for your attention.
