So annoyed that you now have to watch an advert before every movie trailer you want to watch now. Maybe play one before the first one you watch but EVERY time???? Think YouTube will have to be the port of call now for movie trailers....

Sorry about that.  We do not (intentionally) show ads before every trailer.  Video ads should be frequency capped such that you only see them occasionally.

Ironically, ad / cookie blocking plug-ins can interfere with the frequency capping itself so if you try disabling any ad blockers, the trailers should work as expected.  If not, please let us know the system and browser which you are using plus also the country from which you are accessing IMDb.

Hi. Thanks for the reply. I have been a big fan of IMDB and have used it for many years. This issue with the ads started a couple of weeks ago and, like I said, it's before every trailer. If it helps it's always an advertisement for the Alfa Romeo SUV?
I am using a 2014 MacBook Pro, running OS Sierra and the only ad-blocker running is the native one within Safari. I have ran an adware piece of software through the machine but it didn't find anything untoward.
Thanks again. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.  We have opened a ticket with the appropriate team.  In the meantime, a couple of further questions:

Are you located in the US?

What happens if you disable the ad blocker in Safari (or if you have another browser on the same system and visit IMDb with that instead)?

No, I'm in the UK. I will try using IMDB with Google Chrome and let you know my findings.
Many thanks.

The ad team have taken a look at this and we do not think the problem is on our side, sorry.  We cannot reproduce the issue in the UK nor in the US.

We have two frequency caps in play here -- #1 video ads run at most one per five minutes, and #2 each ad can only be shown a small number of times per day.  You should not be seeing the same ad over and over on every trailer for weeks.

Please let us know what happens with Chrome.

Any luck with Chrome?

Also on Safari have you selected the option "Do Not Personalize Ads from Amazon for this Internet Browser" on https://www.amazon.com/adprefs

By selecting the above option, Amazon would not apply frequency capping on your requests, and this would explain the behaviour since you are essentially opting out of us storing any information, including whether or not you have already seen the ad.

Hi and many thanks for your reply.
I didn't try Chrome but I did visit the link you attached and changed the preferences for Amazon ads. That seems to have done the trick. I have now played 4 movie previews on IMDB and haven't seen an advert!
Very happy that you have been able to point me in the right direction and I will be able to continue using IMDB without the headache.

Many thanks. Your help was very helpful and you are a credit to IMDB.

Steve
