GOOD GRACIOUS!!

The bloody nyquil commercial!!!

I sent a similar email months ago - PLEASE for the love of God and all that is Holy, space out and diversify
the advertisements!! All I wanted to do was watch a handful of trailers and ended up having to deal with
the same nyquil commercial on repeat! I will NEVER buy this stupid product!!

Please do something about this Godawful badgering!

I run adblocking plugins in my browser and don't see any ads.

Worth also flagging up that IMDB try not to make their ads too intrusive and if there are some that are being a pain (or if they are inappropriate) then it might be a sign of malware infection. So it'd be worth giving your computer a quick scan. Malwarebytes is free to use and I find it is one of the most effective tools out there for this kind of thing:

I thought she meant at the beginning of the video on the trailers but just watched a few and don't see any ads on any of those I watched.

To Danielle, I also have adblocking plugins (I think most of the helpers do) and don't see any ads, particularly the one you describe. You might look into it! Not seeing them is wonderful!

Ahhh good catch. If this is happening on a video and the advert keeps repeating (instead of the trailer playing), then there is a problem that needs addressing, so we'd need a link to the relevant videos.

Yeah...I couldn't find one, but gave up fairly quickly. If the OP can give examples...

She may have taken some Nyquil and gone off to nap! (that.would.be...AWESOME!)

The iPad app shows regularly the same ads between trailer / at the beginning of any other... so get an iPad and test for yourself.

Hm... perhaps a plugin would help? But it's not a popup or anything.... On the homepage, I just click to watch a trailer. The trailer loads and starts to pl- NYQUIL AD! -okay now you can watch the trailer. Trailer ends, new one loads and starts to pl- NYQUIL AD!! -okay now you can watch the- wait I dont want to watch this one, I wanna see That one. -NYQUIL AD! -okay now you can watch the trailer. New trailer loads and starts to- NYQUIL AD!! -okay now you can....

this gets annoying very quickly.

The ZzzQuil ad runs at the beginning of all of the trailers I've tried. It comes up every single time I start a trailer.

On home page: http://www.imdb.com/
Devi's Pass, Jobs, and Diana

On the trailer page: http://www.imdb.com/trailers
Lone Survivor, Breaking Bad, American Hustle, 47 Ronin, The: The Dark World and The Conjuring.

Which ad runs at the beginning of a trailer may depend upon your region and time of day, so others may not see this. I may also see this ad because I access IMDb during the night in the US. A different ad may come up during the day.

The ad for ZzzQuil runs for 15 seconds. It can become annoying, watching the same ad and is probably doing more to harm the product in your case than it is does to promote it. Since this runs before the trailer, ad blockers may not work.

IMDb may wish to talk to the ad agency about mixing their advertisements so they are more effective and less annoying.

I played the same trailers at around 6:15 PM Central (4:15 PM Pacific) and there was no advertisement played prior to the trailers. This ad could be time of day dependent.

They're back!
The local time is 10:21 PM Central. The ad for ZzzQuil plays before every trailer I tried. This looks like it is time of day dependent.

My sample is rather limited: early morning (yes), mid day (no) and around bed time (yes). I doubt I would perform a proper design of experiment to test out my hypothesis.

Makes sense to catch the insomniacs when they are at their most vulnerable.

Ugh. Seriously though. The badgering is incredibly counterproductive. Every ad they throw on repeat immediately gets dumped into my "Do Not Buy Or Support - EVER" list. Even if they truly feel the need to play an ad before each and every trailer, for MERcy sake vary them!

I just checked the trailers again. The ad for ZzzQuil plays before every trailer I tried. The local time is 11:18 AM Central. So the ad is not time dependent as I had originally hypothesized. It is also a different ZzzQuil ad that runs 30 seconds instead of 15 seconds.

This is a product I would not buy on the recommendation of my personal physician, so this does not affect me personally. I also generally do not watch more than one or two trailers at time, so I would not have detected the preponderance of ZzzQuil ads.

I wonder if the schedule it's running today is different because it's a weekend. Night time during week, day time during weekend.

I keep getting the same Sev Zero gaming commercial that is 30 seconds with no option to skip.  Same video over and over and over before you can watch any trailer.  IMDB has been my go to site for years now.  If ads like this persist I'll find another site to use for checking trailers.  As someone else mentioned, it does more harm to a product by shoving it down people's throats each and every time you try to watch a trailer.

Thanks for an otherwise great site for the past years.  Hope I don't have to move on.

Edit: My mistake.  After reading another post it would seem that it's the video streaming host, Amazon(?), that is posting the ads.  Also, even though it does not say it, you can skip the ad after 5 seconds.
