Assistant Story Editor

Does Assistant Story Editor belong in the writers department or Other Crew? If I try to add it to the Writers, it suggests Other Crew.

Go back to the other thread It does indeed belong in writers by IMDb rule.

The problem is the IMDM site, which asks it to be moved to Other Crew.

I've never seen assistant story editor as a title but I would say since it contains the key phrase "story editor" that it would belong in the writers group. I've added junior story editors into the writers group. Even if IMDb moves it to other crew, you can check the box to move it back to the writers group.

For some perspective, story editor used to be listed under the other crew but has since moved to the writers group. It seems no one in the writers group is currently credited as assistant story editor. If you add more of these credits to writers group, then IMDb will quit trying to move it.

I tried adding an 'assistant story editor' credit first in Writers and then in Other crew, and *both* resulted in the credit being moved by the form. These two messages are not compatible:

(The name and title are random.)

I think it might be a remnant of a time when "story editor" was indeed considered a miscellaneous crew credit. It was relocated to "writer" credits fairly recently, so there ought to be some still stuck in the miscellaneous crew.
