Hello friends,
I have done contributions to IMDB in the form of corrections and additions to existing entries but haven't added any titles yet. I wanted to add a made for tv movie that was missing but after adding the initial info (title and type of movie) a screen popped up asking me to confirm I was authorized to add the title. I'm assuming a lot of titles get added by people who aren't "authorized" (as in they are from the production company or some other affiliation) so do I just check the box and proceed or am I supposed to contact the production company?
I didn't want to proceed without getting input about this. I did a quick search to see if this question had been posted already but didn't see anything (just other issues related to adding titles).
Thanks.

What screen are you referring to? There’s a screen where you could tick to box if you’re part of the production (you worked in the film as an actor or crew member), but that has no connection to any permissions to add the film.
Short answer: No, you don’t need any special permission to add a new title to IMDb.
However, many titles are already on IMDb, so it’s always good to double check that is the title (already) added. Search the title itself, and maybe also check the director/main cast filmography just in case. Some titles can also be added with a different (AKA) title.

If you are referring to this..........choose the selection shown. "none of the above"

Thanks @Eboy and @Ed Jones. Yep, that's what I did... selected "none of the above" and I thought that's why the notice popped up (because I wasn't someone associated with the production). It was on the screen after this (fine print saying something like "by submitting you are acknowledging that you are approved to add this title").
What's weird is that it's a new tv movie that just premiered yesterday (Saturday) but it was promoed about 3 weeks ago and that's when I first looked it up and it didn't show up (I even cross-referenced it by two of the main actors). There was very little info about the movie except I did find some info on the station that was airing it. I even checked this morning and it didn't come up but weirdly... I just went to add the title to see if I could get the screen again and now it's showing up. Maybe someone beat me to it and just added it or it was sitting in the queue waiting to be approved. I know it wasn't there before. LOL!!
I'm glad to know special permission isn't needed to add titles. :-) If I get a chance to add one again and I see the screen I will do a screenshot and post it here.
Thanks for the speedy reply!!!

There’s a ”fine print” in the first page when you’re adding the title:
”By the action of sending information to the Internet Movie Database (IMDb) via this form, you declare that the submitted data is correct to the best of your knowledge, not copyrighted by a third party and you hereby give the IMDb permission to use it.”
I believe the copyright bit refers to sections like plot outline, trivia, biography etc, where it’s not recommended to just copy-and-paste info from some other web sites/sources. But the actual cast & crew names/occupations are usually just taken from the actual credits of the film (that’s kinda the main purpose of IMDb).

Thanks for this @Eboy but it wasn't this wording. I'm positive it was fine print on the page after this and it was the "by submitting you hereby declare you are authorized..." type wording that made me cancel out of adding the title about three weeks ago and prompted me to post this question. LOL!! Maybe I read it wrong or I accidentally clicked on something that triggered it to appear when it normally doesn't. So weird! LOL! Hopefully I get another chance to add a title to see if I get it again.
