Credits I changed for Pokemon were declined because off ''Badly Formatted.''

I've used the same format for previous credited that were approved so this doesn't make much sense to me

Please post the 18-digit reference number of the submission so an IMDb representative can review the update and respond.

Hi Joe -

I can see that the credit submissions were not approved because they were formatted with the attribute "(voice: English version)", note that when a credit is for an English-language voice of a character in a non-English language animated film, the attribute should just be listed as "(voice)".

For example, see the American cast for "Princess Mononoke":  https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0119698/

Please go ahead and re-submit the credits with just a "voice" attribute and our editors will take another look.

Sorry Michelle, but that's not what the guidelines say. Also note that if you check the update form for your example, the attributes are actually (voice: English version), it's simply a display issue hiding it on the main page.

If policy has changed, then the guide needs to be updated, but I'd be very surprised if you really want to deliberately omit data that indicates these credits are an exception to the usual "original version only" rule. It seems to me that hiding that information will just lead to confusion.

Hmm, the policy seems to have changed if this is true.

Btw. ”Princess Mononoke” has English language credits added first, and the original Japanese after that. Should it be other way around?

Since seeing all this, I have started re-adding the cast lists but with voice in attribute and changed another page to read voice

Hi there,

Thanks for your response.

If the episode was released in English first, then the credit should simply include the attribute (voice) - however if the title was first released in another language such as Japanese, the English credit should be listed as (voice: English version).

Can you confirm where this was first released?

Thanks!

Joel

This is Pokemon. Japanese series all the way.

( I believe upcoming ”Pokémon: Detective Pikachu” is the first film that is probably considered having English language ”first”. )

Agreed, the attribute should be (voice: English version) in this case. Which submission references are still outstanding? Were there other edits? Were you replacing the character names or the order numbers with orders that are already populated?

I am in contact with voice director Lisa Ortiz so any changes I make in terms of character names/order come based on those credits

Hi Joe,

The order number, (as) credits and character names should be credited as they appear on screen in the end credits. This may explain why your submissions aren't being processed.

Regards,
Will

Since the names of the U.S. (voice) actors and their order can be (presumably?) found from the actual credits (U.S. version of Pokemon series), I assume that info from the U.S. voice director mainly consists the actual character names - and maybe some ”uncredited” voice actors?

Joe, your info may be correct (it’s actually great that you take time to research these things), but credit order, characters, format and attributes could be another matter. So credits can be rejected for various reasons.

Which season(s) are you trying to correct/update?

Hi Joe -

Are you trying to just add the cast for these two seasons?  Do you have any online links/sources to help verify the information?  Please also post the submission reference numbers here and I will be happy to take a look.

The information came from an email by Lisa Ortiz, a promise I made when we started was I wasn't to share her email address hence why I can't post screenshots

You can send screenshots of those e-mails via IMDb help desk, which is a more private way to send e.g. proof. And you can blank the e-mail address (and other more sensitive info). IMDb is only interested about info/facts, not your personal messages.

https://help.imdb.com/contact
(Choose ”IMDb fan/contributor questions”, then ”Filmography credits”, and then ”Provide credit evidence”.)

A link to this thread obviously helps.

Hi Joe -

I can see that the four credit submissions you referenced were not approved because our editors were unable to verify the information.

As Eboy mentioned above, we will need to see further evidence to help verify the information before any cast changes can be made.  You can provide evidence privately through the above mentioned Contact Form.

Thanks for the update Joe.  If you reached out to our staff through the Contact Form with evidence for other credit submissions, they will inform you if they will need a more substantial source.

sadly despite the first submission with the source being accepted, others weren't so I see no point continuing to add cast lists to IMDB
