Can anyone confirm the numbers are accurate for Born Into Mafia? It's hard to believe this vanity video cost $200K, and got a "limited release" in the US where it allegedly made $50K.

Hi Carter.
You would probably get better results researching it on the internet.

Hi, Ed. I'm actually familiar with the filmmaker's work, based on video reviews of some of his past titles (this title being one). That's what surprised me about the dollar figures — the data seems dubious and possibly misleading. I did do a (past) theater chain search, found nothing, and figured I would check with the knowledgeable members here.

I'm sorry, but if this video cost more than several hundred bucks to make, and earned more than the cost of a Snickers bar at a theater/chain in the US, then the universe will no longer make any sense to me. A near mid-six budget (to quote your figure), and an alleged "limited release" and five figure "opening weekend" (terms used on IMDb) defies all logic.

NSFW review link here.

This feature looks, in large part, to be a prosumer guerilla shoot that was directed by, produced by, production design by, cast by, visual effects supervised by, editing supervised by, and starring the same person, under his own company's shingle.

Hey, anything is possible, of course. But the existing data, in my humble opinion, stretches credibility.

Sorry there are hundreds of titles with the same abysmal results. This has a 1.6 voter rating with only 191 viewer ratings. The $50K Opening weekend is the exaggeration.
This probably had no opening weekend and went straight to video. After viewing the first 10 minutes of the movie I could take no more. While it is very good as a first effort, it is what it is. I believe the low numbers. Both Ratings and it's Gross.
