BUG: Please shorten this text to 50 characters or less

I was trying to correct some "as" attributes for an animator that his (or her) name listed two different names in the credits of one series. I went to the name page and edited the episodes where I wanted to add the "as" attribute and I got this error.

The title is pre-populated and did not change. Even besides that fact, I can't imagine that you would want to limit titles to 50 characters. What is going on here?

Adrian: It looks like the highlighted box is where a person's name is supposed to appear, but it looks like there is an episode title in that box.

Can you please specify what credit this is, on what episode, and for whom, so that the contributors here can test the problem and see if they get the same error message?

It was not a person's name box (even that shouldn't be limited to 50 characters) but an episode title. Interestingly enough, I tried to recreate this and it isn't happening now so it is an intermittent problem. Here you can see the attempt to recreate it.

Adrian: Thanks for posting that image. I understand the problem now.

There is a known bug involving editing a person's filmography where a title is more than 50 characters long. See the discussion at https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/topics/trying-to-it-only-allows-me-to-type-a-certain-amount-of-char... and further discussion at https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/topics/issue-with-adding-credits-for-alexandria-ocasio-cortez.

I am not sure why the problem only shows up intermittently. However, if you ever run into this problem again, I recommend going to the page for the specific episode, clicking "Edit page", and submitting a correction to the cast or crew of the episode instead. That way, you will not be subjected to the 50-character limit.

For what’s worth, I (more-or-less) always do corrections from the title or episode page. It seems a bit confusing to do it via the person’s name page.

I generally do title pages but when it is like this and 4 different episodes (and in the past I've done 50+ at one time) need the same change, then it is easier to do it on hte name page. I do wish they would make the title box bigger or make it wrap or something so that you could see the full title.
