Burt Lancaster and Debra Winger embrace on the beach

Debra Winger should be Deborah Kerr.  Anyone who has seen this film would know this.  Anyone who has access to imdb would know this.  Debra was born 2 years after the film was released.  Burt and Debra were not making love on the beach.  DOES ANYBODY REVIEW ITEMS BEFORE THEY ARE POSTED?  imdb - you are losing your credibility!

This poll, like most, was compiled by an IMDb user, not staff.

The poll's source list dates back to Dec 2013.
https://www.imdb.com/list/ls054697026/
The user is still active on IMDb, so I left a comment on that list. However, I don't think IMDb sends notifications to the user about new comments, and this user has almost 500 lists, so it's not likely he will see it.

I don't know to what extent the text on such polls is vetted by IMDb. Or _was_ back then.

Hopefully we'll hear from an expert on polls  about this.

By the way, I wish the "Discuss this" link on polls took us to a specific location on Get Satisfaction for that poll, or were omitted.

Paul S. Markowski and bderoes,

This poll went live December 24, 2013. I'm surprised that no one noticed the problem until Paul reported the problem.

This poll went live while the IMDb technical staff was still working out the functionality of the poll software. At that time IMDb staff were reviewing polls. Currently, volunteer user administrators review and select polls for publication with guidance from IMDb staff. I am one of the volunteer poll admins.

Only the creator of the list upon which a poll can update the list. Poll admins can update the poll once a list is corrected or otherwise updated.

I've contacted the author privately and asked him to update the list so we can correct the poll.

I very much appreciate your initiative.  I am a big time imdb user.  First thing I do when I open my lap top is to see whose birthdays are being celebrated.  The fun continues as I use the site to research what movies and shows to watch/buy or not watch/buy.  I especially like the biographies.

I am a huge fan of Debra, Deborah, and Burt (I will run out of space if I list my favorite films that star them).  I will watch any film that includes them.  I am confident Burt would have been pleased to act with Debra...if there was not such a large age difference.

Your efforts support the integrity and importance of imdb.

Thank you!
Paul

PS.  I hope you are somewhere comfortable.  I am a native of Northern Virginia, just across the Potomac from DC.  August is my least favorite month with temps and humidity pushing the heat index to 110 degrees.  I wish I was in my mother's native Northern Minnesota with its beautiful lakes, birch trees, and no A/C needed!  Winter will arrive there soon enough...feet of snow from October through April.  Watch "Fargo" for a reminder...yah, ubetcha!

Paul,

I forgot to thank you for pointing out the error. The poll authors and admins collectively do out best to ensure the accuracy of polls. I'm really surprised that I didn't notice this when the poll originally went live. I will post a note in this thread when this poll is updated. If you see any other problems with polls, please post them in the Poll category (https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/categories/imdb_imdb_poll).

I'm originally from the Twin Cities in Minnesota. The weather is generally a lot more temperate this time of year in Northern Minnesota than my current location, a suburb of St. Louis, Missouri.

I still have a strong Minnesota accent after living in Missouri for over 38 years, ya shure you abetcha!

Don't loose the accent!  Mom insisted Minnesotans speak proper English and the rest of us do not.  She was 100% Minnesotan and Swedish.   She would tease me, saying I am a poor Minnesotan and Swede because I do not eat fish or drink coffee.

Mom was one of 12 children and I am one of 30 cousins, most of whom stayed in Minnesota, although most moved to the Twin Cities.  Mom grew up in Bigfork, near Grand Rapids, birthplace of Frances Gumm...most folks know her as Judy Garland.  My very favorite actress is Jessica Lange, also from Northern Minnesota.  Grand Rapids has a Judy Garland Museum, including the ruby slippers.  I've seen another set of the slippers in the Smithsonian.

After Mom earned her Associates degree, she and a college friend came to DC.  Jobs were plentiful after WWII and the weather much more agreeable.

We visited Minnesota every 2-3 years.  Many family members would visit us + see DC and other East coast sites (Williamsburg is my favorite place on the planet).  After my father died from cancer, Mom moved in with me and my Sheltie, Ronstadt Blue Bayou (yes, I like unique names for my dogs).  Mom and Ronstadt were best friends, especially when Mom was cooking.  I am confident Mom placed extra food on her plate so there would be scraps for the dog.

Mom and I planned a trip to Minnesota for the summer of 2000.  Ronstadt went to Heaven in the Spring.  We agreed to get a new Sheltie in the Fall.  Our new dog was registered with the American Kennel Club as Uffda Ubetcha.  My license plate is Uffdda.  The correct spelling was taken.

I worked in Corporate Finance with ExxonMobil.  In 2001, the company sent me to Brussels to teach my European and African coworkers a new financial system we were implementing.  On the first day, I walked into the conference room with 40 people sitting behind computers, from many countries.  I introduced myself, clicked on the keyboard, and the screen behind me lit up.  My screen saver was a photo of my puppy.  I said, "And this if my puppy, Uffda!".  A lady in the back row said, "Uffda, Uffda, you don't name a dog Uffda!".  On break, I found her and, sure enough, she was from Norway and she knew it was a mild swear word.  We had a good laugh.

I've been to Minnesota twice in winter.  First was in the early 1980's when we thought my grandmother may be passing.  We flew to the Twin Cities and rented a car.  Dad did well driving in these conditions.  One of Mom's older sisters went to Heaven the last week of October 1994.  We rushed to the airport and rented a car in early November.  I did not enjoy driving in blizzard conditions.  We attended the church service in Bigfork.  There was no cemetery service because of the 3+ feet of snow.  We rushed back to the airport and returned home.  It was an experience that gave us little closure in losing a very dear lady.

My aunt's husband loved to fish.  During Hollywood's Golden Age, quite a few leading men would visit Northern Minnesota.  My uncle would take them to the best fishing holes.

Many of my cousins have cabins up north on lakes.  It sounds wonderful.  Minnesota has over 12,000 lakes.  Virginia has only 2 natural lakes...Lake Drummond and the one used in "Dirty Dancing".  We do have many rivers (notably the Potomac and James), Chesapeake Bay, and the Atlantic Ocean.  I prefer our mountains.

All right, thanks for pointing out the error, but it's a harmless little goof, the previous option contained the name of Debra Winger and I must have been too hasty in the copy-pasting.
Now the error is fixed but your tone in the initial post makes it sound as though some ignoramus made the list and escaped the attention of IMDb editors, "From Here" is one of my favorite 1950s films and of course, I know it would have been impossible for Debra Winger to be part of the cast, the mistake was regrettable but these things happen...

Sorry Sir ElM. Your mistake is a capital offense.( ゚д゚) But since you have been a great and wonderful influence and a good friend here at the IMDb board? We will forgo the summary execution and exile you to the Phantom Zone with General Zod.

May Col Needham have mercy on your soul. YOU SCOUNDREL!
