.  My idea was to use your products expansive database of actors, actresses, broadcasters, and other television personalities and add a camera element.  Now; I’m not even quite sure if this technology is feasible or would even financially make sense based on your company’s capital structure but the idea itself may be beneficial to your company in the long-term.Through your application, I would add a camera that would allow the user to identify the person their watching without actually knowing their name.  Far too often I have found myself wondering what other movies certain actors are in but finding that I do not know their name and having to waste time searching through credits or using your app the traditional way.  By linking a camera to your products database, the user could simply take a photo of the person and your data base would pop up their profile.

Hi Sean Kelly,

What you are suggesting is very similar to this idea:

Your version presents some potential legal problems. Film production companies, distributors and theater owners ban the use of cameras inside movie theaters to reduce incidents of film piracy. Broadcast and cable television networks prohibit the re-broadcast and redistribution of content. These two exclusions would significantly limit the utility of your version of the suggestion.

It sounds like you are requesting that IMDb implement facial recognition software to match the faces
of celebrities. Developing such algorithms is probably beyond the scope of what IMDb can do. Fortunately there are third party vendors who have such software available.

This Wikipedia article describes the general state of the art for facial recognition.

My heritage has an application for matching head shots with those of celebrities.
This is probably what you are looking for.

Google has a general image search that can also be very useful.

Finally, a number of IMDb users have created lists of celebrities who look alike. This is a Google search of such lists:
