I am a feature first assistant cameraman. On most of the movies I've worked on, I've had 2 occupations: "A" or "B" camera first assistant and steadicam assistant. Both are recognized occupations, but being the "A" or "B" camera first assistant is the more important occupation.
On the mobile site (android) most films only list me as the steadicam assistant. I had previously noticed on the web site that "Steadicam assistant" was listed first for several movies (I was told due to the capital "S" which is alphanumerically sorted ahead of "f" in first assistant). I've since corrected this, but now the mobile site lists my occupation mostly as steadicam only (except for the pilot of The Tomorrow People 2013 which correctly lists both).
This is not only for myself and other camera assistants, it is also true for most steadicam operators who also operate the "A" or "B" cameras, again, the more important occupation.
I realize that many people in the business use IMDB as their prime research resource and If you can only give one occupational credit on a film, I'd rather it be for working the "A" or "B" cameras.
Thank you,
Eric
